What do you emagine a Zealot would look like?
The Zealot is all about religious fever. He's all about the Raven God and believing in the Raven God 100% … It's beaks, it's feathers, it's death, it's destruction.
Beaks, Feathers and weak armor.
I never imagined a zealot to be a Chaos class, so I dont have any expectations to this class, except that they will be the Chaos healing class, as Paul Barnett stated.

Yeah it's a completely new class, so it's hard to know what to expect really. All I can say is that it looks really cool, but that's about it. :)

i too expect him too look like the concept art.
wide-eyed, fanatical, foaming at the mouth, mangy, emaciated, covered in mothfilled feathers, birdskulls, elaborate ornaments with the icon of tzeentch, eyes everywhere, etc etc

Looks to skinny, masochistic, dirty and evil... I like him :) Hope he looks the same ingame. The more important question is, what of his weapons? Do you think he will stick with daggers, as shown in the concepts or maybe some wands/staves later on, since his dps will clearly come form casting?

healer/caster -> staff
see goblinshaman and the runepriest
as they're going for "iconic and recognisable" i suspect they'll stick with the tone they set with the other 2 healer/caster careers known sofar

Perhaps they get a stick with feathers and bird-claws on the end to rake out the eyes of the heathens, and not just a dagger.
Speaking of that, what is that thing in the left hand of the male zealot? Skull?

looks like an unfinished rendering of a human skull to me yeah
as for the staff, i'm hoping on the sort of stuff you see in the runepriest concept art. 1 basic staff, with tons of different heads. claws, wings, beaks, tzeentch icons, etc
altho the dagger + skull really reminds me of some of the aztek/maya art of human sacrificing. which is cool too for the zealot.

I don't think the "Caster, therefore staff" arguement will hold here.
These guys won't need a staff to be easily discernable from the Chosen or Magus classes.
If any Chaos class will be wielding a staff, I'd guess it would be a Magus (whom is most closely a Sorcerer from the TT).

I know it probably won't happen but I was hoping that higher Zealot tiers would dabble with Tzeentch's interesting bird mutations. Nonetheless I expect sparse armor with lots of raven/crow feathers. Possibly some tribal tattoos as well.

i think he will stick to daggers... I think the magus is the staff guy of chaos..

I dunno if I'm the only one, but doesn't he look a lot like the necromancer from Diablo 2?
Not necessarily a bad thing though, he was pretty cool.
http://www.maxfreak.com/diablo2/images/necromancer.jpg
if memory serves, his weapon of choice were a dagger and a skull/demon head as a shield/offhand.
I'm sure they'll leave a staff choice open for Zealot. Like someone here said...make it all birdlike. Have feathers coming off near the head, and the head of the staff being either a claw or something crazy like that.
But I'll be going the way of dagger/offhand. Necromancers in Diablo 2 used a dagger, but I used a wand sometimes. You could still smack people in the face with it, but it was always nice having 2-3 more skeletons and afew extra points onto your spells...so I liked my wand. Switched weapons (expansion only) and I'd have my dagger, and Poison Dagger skill ready on "right click" :)
But anyway. Yea when they released Squig Herders (long long time ago) I was all "omg im gunna b a herder! yay!"
Then Shaman.
Then Bright Wizard.
Now Zealot.
I can't choose my main...so far Zealot looks fun, because I'm a total sucker for any kind of summoning (I was a necro in D2, and warlock in WoW. I love pets). I'm a sucker for ravens/crows/any kind of black bird (check the avatar). Zealot is seeming more like a win than Bright Wizard and Shaman, though those other classes still appeal to me.
But yea. I don't see them restricting all the careers to [THIS WEAPON]. Maybe Shamans stick with their staffs, but even then there's still another possibility for them (if Mythic so chooses to do so). They may have more reasons to be one weapon than the other. Different ups and downs for different weapon combinations...

I hope for a lot of options. But yeah, like you all said, it will start out similiar to the concept art.

I was just gonna say he reminded me of D2.
They did a really good job with the male, but it seems that something is lacking from the female. I just can't quite put my finger on it though.

I dunno, I think the female zealot looks more menacing and way cooler than the male counterpart, which looks more irritating to me. But they both look so cool I will have a hard time choosing my Destruction career path! ;)

I've said before to friends/other WAR fans that I want to play the Zealot because he is the perfect combination "Alas! poor Yorick. I knew him, Horatio" and "I'm going to eat your face and sacrifice the leftovers to Tzeentch." (http://www.warhammeronline.com/newsletter/images/2006/chaoszealot_01.jpg)

I love the appearance of Zealots. They all give me a crazy Grigori Rasputin vibe, especially the guys in the concept art. I can just imagine them booming out crazy chants in a deep bass voice from their deceptively skinny frames while they wave their daggers around.

I love the Zealots. I'm definitely rolling one, as long as I can avoid the facial hair. Why? Because the facial hair reminds me of greasy 1970s era biker dudes, complete with Freddy Mercury moustaches.*shudder* If I can't avoid that, I'm gonna roll a female chosen. There's something inherently creepy about the facial hair.

Nah dude, you just gotta think of the beards as crazy hermit beards, not greasy biker beards.
....and what's wrong with Freddy Mercury?

That is exactly how I want my Zealot to look. Either that, more similar to this (http://www-eleves.int-evry.fr/clubsf/dossiers/images/necromancer.jpg). The crazed barbarian from the north is a brilliant idea though, honestly. Mythic in "making up" the Zealot class have really done an excellent job and the concept art for the class is suberb.
EDIT: I LOLed at that, btw Ichor. A lot :)

The animations on the Zealot from the monthly video a while back make the Zealot run and stand kind of hunched over as if his wittle tummy hurt. And when he moves it looks as if the tendons in his shoulder have somehow been severed.

The twisted look suits the class , tho deep hoods and tattered robes would go well with the feather effect .
ps , give me a big claw instead of a dagger kk ? :P

A Roc's talon, perhaps? That would be cool.

Am I the only one who thinks male zealots in-game look a lot like Ola Salo from the Swedish glam rock band, The Ark?
Video here: http://www.dailymotion.com/search/gayclic/video/x1x1pc_eurovision-2007-the-ark?from=rss
Both have the feathery things around their necks and both have exposed torsos. They're nearly indistinguishable!
As long as they continue to do as good a job transferring concept art to in-game as they have been, and as long as I get my hood, I'll be the happiest Zealot in all the lands. Loving everything about them so far, knowing my hood will be in-game will seal the deal for good for me.

If only they'd look more like the concept art and less like hunched (brings-back-awful-undead-memories) chimps, I'd play one.
Sorry but i prefer the idea of the hunch, it comes with the whole emaciated look. I understand how you would wish to steer away from the undead look, but come on, these guys aint in the best of health for the most part.

I'm actually happy about it - looking at the Baltimore footage they seem a little bit less hunched.

I also like the hunched look. It kinda runs in the theme - evil, twisted, rotting and decrepid near-mortals clinging on to life like leeches - perfect!
I'd be impressed if the animations brought the Zealot to life. It would be nice while casting or attacking if the avatar lurches back into action, appearing to have found new strength. Appearances may be decieving kinda thing - which also runs in the theme of them appearing pretty fragile armour wise, but in actuality take quite a beating when fully up and running.

tufts of hair on head (torn out hair from madness) stinks like a hobo (blood tends to stink) try to looks weak to fool his enemies so he can slice/dice and maybe hit him with the skull. ah the good life.
