after playing dow I bought over the weekend I was kinda pissed off at the orc voices, they wern't deep enough!!
there was a documentary where they somehow proved you could tell how big a person was from thier voice, so therefore they better get a BIG person to do the voice of an orc, you can really tell the differnce between a big person and someone putting on a big voice...
and actually a southerner- not someone trying to do a cockney impersonation (especially not an american:evil:)

I haven't played it in a while but accents aside... I thought the voices in Dawn of War were pretty damn cool. Yeah maybe they could be a little deeper but on the other hand I would hate if they were over-the-top. Nothing can ruin a game for me than when the voice acting stinks. When you click on a group of choppa boyz and they scream WAAAAGH!, I thought they did it well.

I know a ton of tall people with squeeky voices that's silly.

Now, of all the races, I thought the Orks sounded the best. The Warboss is deep enough. The Sluggaz are just right!

Yeah, I loved the Ork voices in DoW, I hope they sound just like that in WAR. Really great accents and lines. "We'z all gonna diiiie!"

I also liked the Mad Doc's lines.

The Mad Docs lines were some of the best, yeah. And the Kill Kanz.
And really, the deepness of the voices is just fine. It ramps up from the sluggaz/shootaz to the Nobs, and then to the Warboss real well. Dow did a fine job at the voices for the orcs, never had any problems with them at all. Except that, I wanted more. :(

Actually there have been recent studies that suggested neanderthal man likly had very high pitched voices based on they shape of the bones in there throat, and nothing like what we think of as the standard caveman voice. Neanderthal is the closest comparison real world to an orc in physiology its entirly possible orcs could have higher pitched voices then we would perceive by there appearance. Of course as they are big walking talking fungi its really hard to say what they would sound like.

Well, according to lore they sound really deep and stuff.

Relic did the ork voices nearly perfect. Not as frightening and savage as I would have imagined:???: , but they gave a good laugh :) .

On one of Paul's video blogs you can hear an orc speaking. Of course it is early test stuff but I think it sounds go so far. I think the name of the bit is: "I'll turn ya into a toad", you hear an orc and goblin speak a couple of lines.

I remember that as well. The Goblin-lines were hilarious, as a Goblin shaman (quest-giver) actually said: "I'll turn ya into a toad."

Actually, greenskins have no testicles. No testicles = no testosterone = no deep male voice/ beard etc. So, to be honest, they should sound like Mickey Mouse.

not having balls doesn't give you a low voice it's the size/shape of your lungs and vocal chords stuff like that which must change with the homones given off by glands or whatever :S but who knows if orcs even have gland chemical thingys:confused: I want to have a voice like the face made out of robots in the matrix 3(even though it was a bollocks film) seeing it in the cinema was like being attacked by a sound cannon that made your internal organs shake:D - with a cockney accent of course

Subcutaneous fat in face decreases
Increased muscle strength and mass
Deepening of voice
Growth of the adam's apple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam%27s_apple)
Growth of jaw, brow, chin, nose, and remodeling of facial bone contours
Shoulders widen and rib cage expandsIt's all because of our little friend testosterone, mate. But of course, that's how it works with humans anyway.
And in my opinion they should make orcs sound like Mickey Mouse or at least Adam Sandler. But that's just me.

The general direction of orc sounds and voices sounds pretty good to me. That gobbo though... ugh.

They aren't humans, so that doesn't actually count.
Also, Greenskins (and squigs) are a highly evolved form of space fungus, which is what makes them naturally bald, it's not from a lack of balls.
And orcs grow through a system of adrenaline that pumps rapidly when in combat.

And Orcs do have balls - They kick each other in them as a game.

I must say the only thing I didn't like about the Ork (40k, so orK) voices in DoW were the 'Waaagh!'s. They didn't sound quite savage enough. Now I realise it would be very hard to get that pure, unbridled RAGE into a roar, but I really hope they do it well in WAR.
On another note, I think the Mad Dok's voice would fit PERFECTLY with a gobbo :D

in 40k it sounds more like woooooooooorgh!

yeah in dow it was too high pitched it should be like
mm/r/aWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGu/H!!! (my attempt at a phonetic spelling with emphasis :-P )
insead of warrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh
- and it should be like ear shattereing head shaky like standing next to a loudspeaker at a concert with massive bass, the one from the war trailer at the beggining was really good
oh yeah and I just remembered somthing, why I didn't like most the voices in dow- it was because they sounded too human like just people with deep and cockney voices
the voice of the big mek' and the leader were awsome cus it's like they'd been like distorted a little and were a bit more lispy ( cus of da teef') like growly... lispy you know what I mean:p

I dunno.. to me the trailer orcs sound like they've been edited a bit too much. I don't know how much they've actually fiddled with them, but it sounds like more than what they should. I'm no sound engineer so I can't go around explaining what exactly is done wrong/right in my opinion, just sounds too computery to me.

I thought that.
The "WAAAGH" "Waaaagh" sounds... somehow strange.
MoC Orcs are alright.
DoW are the best orc voice thus far though, just how they should be, IMO anyway. Hope they are something like that in WaR.

had another idea,
what if as you grow your voice deepens like with emotes, anything like that- just by a simple like voice deepening thing, not whole new voices, like somthing you can do with a microphone at home n make your voice lower as an effect( know what I mean?)
it'd be kinda cool n it's what should happen when an orc grows, not really neccesary in the game I just think it would be cool:p

Heh, if anything, I'd want my Orc to sound like a Mad Dok, or a Stormboy. But that's an interesting idea. . .
