Well I guess it is off peak times for US, but yeah I agree it is kinda bad to do at this time on the Oceania servers (7pm local time here, which is 5am EDT).

Hopefully this won't be the normal scheduled time for maintainance..

D'oh. I was playing before then decided to go grab some dinner. Come back and find im logged out and all the servers say their full. Strange. Log on here and find this. So disappointed as I only just came to Altdorf for the first time and wanted to explore (had already found one or two bugs when I got there). Just a bummer I'll be asleep by the time the servers come back up. Guess I can't complain, this is beta after all

I wish we could get some confirmation on how maintenance will look come release for those of us in the Oceanic region. As stated above, this is the 3rd night this week that maintenance happens completely in our prime time.

Get home from work, dinner, family obligations, settle in for a few hours of play and boom - servers are down for a 'just' a few hours but enough to cut our playtime out for the night.

Being in South Korea, I don't even get the luxury of a low ping to the servers BUT I absolutely love this game so, of course, will stick with it :D

It'd be nice if they had a separate maintenance schedule for oceanic, but don't get your hopes up. Why do two maintenance when you can do one? Saving money > oceanic customers....at least in my experience.

It isn't that hard to put a [Oceanic] after a server. Just because they say that on them doesn't mean they're located over there, it just signifies it as a gathering spot for those of that area. I wouldn't be surprised if the Oceanic server is located three feet from the US and EU servers.

Maintenance is always a problem, but I'm sure there is a middle ground somewhere, but cutting into Australian/New Zealand peak play time isn't that great, but it is understandable since it is still beta.

Without actually looking at ping statistics, I can almost verify that this is in fact true.

I've played many other games with ACTUAL Oceanic servers, that I ping terribly to, and lag a lot.

However, I've been finding myself playing in the "Oceanic" servers lately due to my sleep schedule, and those being the highest population at the times I play, and have noticed ZERO lag.

Had a huge (at least 50v50) RvR fight the other night on Darklands outside the Empire warcamp and it was as if there were 2 people on the screen. Zero lag...

Since I'm about 500 miles from where the US servers are, I'd be willing to bet that you're right and the "Oceanic" servers are really just Oceanic in name, and not in location.

This. First 'Oceanic' servers in an MMO that are actually in the Oceanic.

I think what they could do is every other patch do it during off peaks. Patch 1 do during US Off-time. Patch 2 do during Oceanic Off-time, rinse repeat. Least then everyone will have to share the pain of not being able to play at there normal schedule every so often. Plus makes Oceanic players happy and me living in the est timezone I wouldn't have any problem with a night off here and there.

I have the solution! They can use the model they already have in place with Darkness Falls - whatever realm (timezone) is losing in RvR come patch day gets to have the patch during their peak time.

Never mind that US and AUS aren't playing on the same servers and therefore unable to compete for in-game objectives... just go with the flow man.

Most likely come release they will have seperate patch times since if the servers are located in australia they will have seperate admins there for it. Right now they are probably doing them all at once so they can weed out any problems with the patching system that might crop up during live.

Remember, it's just a beta and that's what the beta is for, fixing these issues before it really affects users.

Yes, Technically the servers should have been up by now.

And yes there was a small patch which you should be able to download now, but you won't be able to login to your server until they are back online.

Yeah it kinda sucks that several mirror classes aren't going to be available at launch. It's already extremely noticeable in realm pairing scenarios. Empire has no tank, yet fight plenty of Chosen. Dark Elves have no tank, yet fight High Elf tanks left and right.

Playing a DE WE, fighting constant streams of swordmasters who seem to soak up most of our damage is frustrating. Also, I've got to say, completing the 2nd and 3rd tiers of some of the PQ's is a joke unless we're lucky enough to have a Chosen or Black Orc around.

Yeah I edited it before you even posted. :p I play Greenskin so I don't see that many swordmasters, I've got dwarves on the brain. At least with that pairing, both sides are missing the same archetype (melee DPS) so it's not as bad.

The best thing to do, is if your are playing an Arch type that one area doesnt have ( pretty much anything but ranged dps and healing), is go to somewhere that is missing you. I.e. If your a chosen or a black orc, run to the WC and got to the DE area. You will be in demand there not only for RvR but also some PQs ( since as a tank, you can soak up a lot of damage if they keep you alive.) You never know, you actually may stand out there where in your own area you would just be Black Orc # 5412.

Please don't take this as a personal attack 'cause it's not, but it blows my mind that we're ten years into MMOs and people still don't realize that it's impossible for them to predict exactly how long a given patch may take. Things happen, and this is technology we're dealing with, so Murphy's Law applies even more than usual. :)

It wouldn't hurt for them to *over*estimate, which is what I think Blizzard does a lot, but getting a feel for exactly how much to overestimate will take them some time.
