Folks,

I’ve always said that the pre-launch for an MMORPG can be just as chaotic as post-launch. Well, here’s a good example of that in action and in this case it’s good news! Gamestop today put a number of CEs that they still had in their system, up for sale. Thanks to the Vault, yes, I said thanks to the Vault, we found out they were doing so. As you can imagine, we were umm, rather surprised that they had some copies remaining. So, we have been working with them this morning and we are going to give them additional Collector’s Editions pre-order bonus codes (Open Beta, Head Start, and the two in-game bonus items) to cover the remaining CEs. So, if you still want a CE you will be able to get one, complete with all the expected codes for the CE. You will be able to get into the remainder of the Open Beta and of course, the Head Start (starting on the 14th) and get your bonus items.

So, if you still want a CE with all the keys, you can still get them. Quantities are quite limited (these are not new units but part of the original 60K) so if you want a CE and you want to get into the Open Beta and enjoy the full Head Start, get your orders in quickly. if you're going to order the CE with from these "new found" CE's do it online, i've called 3 gamestops in my area and none of them have the sku's to ring up the CE order, they just have extra CE Code papers... they said to check back in a day but i doubt any will be there

I think it's more incentive for you to grab a piece of their finest work... the price really goes down to the huge art book you'll be getting in the box since paper, ink, binding, and the TIME invested by the artists all cost money... I'd have to say that this is a bargain for such fantastic items in a box.

The other things are just flavor for someone to spend the extra twenty bucks for awesomeness.

There's nothing wrong about paying more to get a more refined product. It's not any different than paying for extra options on your car.

But having a big two day advatange to be first at everything, first chance to get the character name you want etc. Those sorts of things should be on an equal footing. Standard pre-orders at least pay the same amount as anyone who purchases the game after the official launch, everyone is free to pre-order now and pay exactly the same amount.

It lessens the experience a bit when in game advantages are given to those willing to pay more. Which if you listen to the statements that EA has made in the past, micro transactions for in game items etc, are something they plan to fully realize in the future. I'm not saying we'll see it in WAR, but small steps towards that sort of thing never look good to me.

Gamestop has more because people canceled their original orders from them.

Since Gamestop "ran out" of CE codes to give to people.

People that pre-ordered at the beginning of May.

People like me.

Yeah! Let's all just hand over an extra chunk of cash so we can have an advantage. I'd happily order it if I wanted the artwork it includes. A few years from now we can get that awesome item we've been wanting just by handing over $9.99 for it.

Hell, if gold buyers are willing to pay more to have the advantage of being richer in game, why shouldn't they? As some of you have said, it's like complaining about first class or paying more for your car. It's going to make for some awesome games down the road.

honestly the "firsts" you listed will largely not matter after a week or so, who cares if you cleared this instance first or did this PQ first, they won't give titles, at least to my knowledge for doing something first on your server.

the only valid claim you stipulated given CE is the name choosing. but realize too this is a double edge sword, as not all servers will be up at CE HS and SE HS, i think mythic said this offically somewhere. so, if you name is taken hop to a different server. getting that extra 2 days can actually hurt CE people in a pre-established guild because you start your character and are in tier 2 after a day or two, your buddies hop on with their SE order and they can't join your server cus gues what... its full... so the CE ppl in theory have to ditch their toons they made and start fresh or not join up with the guild... a bit of a bigger dilemma to me than killing/doing something first and not getting the name you wanted...

i really don't understand what you're all worked up about. paying a little extra at the start =/= in-game paying for things at all... its called give a little get a little, if there was a game where you could buy the best gear in the game with actual money and people where willing to do it all the more power to them, that will effectively KILL MMO's for the vast majority of ppl playing them now.

you can compare it to a car or first class all you want about how it gives ppl an advantage but i can't tell you how many times i've gone on a flight and first class was empty, or that extra special featured-out car sat on the lot for over a year, (my uncle runs a toyota dealership). when it comes down to it, unless the extra "advantages" are so great compared to the price, which they were given the misconception of what CE orders got compared to SE orders when the CE was first detailed, more people are NOT willing to pay that little extra for that little extra as in the end result, in most cases, the extra does nothing for you in the long run...

for me personally the extra money between the CE and SE is MORE JUSTIFIED with the 2 extra days, if the difference between the two was just the extra days i wouldn't bother.

i'll admit i was one of the few upset, not outraged like so many where, when we saw SE get the same OB and HS access as CE but ONLY because I and roughly 60k other people thought CE was only getting those perks for the extra money put down. now i didn't cancel my CE b/c of the news but it was a lot like how SE people feel now about CE getting extra time. you were told one thing when you handed over your money but got another.

i can't tell you how many ppl told CE owner's to stop "whinning" at the news and now with the resent press release the former "don't whine" are now whinning, kinda funny how that works out huh?:cool:

have to say Im kind of dissapointed in Gamestop and how they distribute beta and preorders in general. They always have some sort of problems. My friend actually went to go get a standard preorder for warhammer but they were out of SE keys so the gamestop employee gave him the CE keys even though he was a SE customer. So someone musta got screwed out of the CE keys.

EA has stated that they see micro-transactions for in-game items as a big part of the future. I don't think we'll see any major developments down that path in WAR, but if no one complains about these moves and everyone is willing to dish out extra cash for this sort of thing, then we'll definitely be seeing a lot more of it in the future.

I live in australia and paid 44$ for shipping :p

I had no option but the 2 day express mail. Suck it up and be happy you got a CE - tons of people wanted them but didnt get in in time.

HS are not unique to WAR or EA in ANY WAY, plus if you think 2 days over the lifetime of an MMO gives ppl an advantage you are sadly mistaken... the best example i can give of this is i started WoW a year after most but within 6 months I was in the top guild on the server doing server first when several ppl i met had been on the server since day one. 2 days is nothing if even a year doesn't matter in a mmo. all it does is let ppl get out of tier 1 quicker where large numbers of players hurt the gameplay experience more so than it does in later tiers.

There is a section labeled "Exclusives" under titles in the Tome. This "exclusive" could be per srever. It could be possible that being first doing something could lead to a title. I don't see why not. I'm just speculating though.

I don't know if anyone has answered your question, but I'll tell you my experience. I recieved my CE codes just a few hours after ordering yesterday. I too have a SE account setup, so I was curious as to what would happen so I put my CE Headstart code in, and bascially you have to setup another Warhammer account, not a Mythic, just Warhammer. So you will see your Original SE with all it's codes applied and you will see your CE with all its codes applied.

I didn't enter my CE beta code because well no need...so I have a Beta Code available :D

For those of you that ordered the SE but then got the CE (out of these extras they found). You will be stuck with both orders just FYI. I just got an email from gamestop saying that I can not cancel my SE order as all pre-orders are locked in 10 days prior ship date. Did not know this at the time...so now im stuck dishing out 170$ on the 18th....ouch! So yeah just filling in those that might not of known...chances are pretty good you will pay for both...slaped myself bigtime for this one lol.

I ordered the CE from them at the beginning of May. Never got codes. When I asked they said they'd get more later. Later, I asked again, still no codes. Then in August I asked again and reminded them that I ordered 2 copies of the CE. About 2 days later I get 1 set of codes by email. Now I'm still waiting on a response to my last email a few days ago for my other codes so my wife can play too.

Shouldn't their first priority be to take care of existing customers before trying to sell more of what they told some of us they no longer have?

Well its like 8 hours till CE launch and I got a order in for the CE when they posted it on the 11th and still no codes....So I guess they are gonna send them late or never. Probably got us to hook up for the people that they go to charge and there cards bounce then we are next in line I suspect. Honestly is the CE even worth it? Idk if theres a price difference or not on it was trying to find some info on it. Idc if I'm in a day later then CE I'll still be haven just as amount of fun in the game as they are.

Oh just wonder are the characters we made in OB still going to be there? I mean they sent the ingame items so I'm sure they should still be there lol. If not will they resend the items? Just some questions lol do to my hours at work I didn't get much OB testing done.

I enjoyed the Toons I made in OB, I tried mutiple ones and they all were fun to play.

Some of you should actually read the whole article that was posted here. The CE's they have/had now are ones that people canceled (4000 i think...no source). They and Mythic agreed upon giving new codes for these boxes...those of you that ordered the CE from gamestop (initial release not these new ones) and didn't get codes that is because unfortunately gamestop was giving away CE codes to SE pre-orders (i know this because I and a friend ordered the SE and got CE codes). Sorry but thats what happened, I for one will never order from Gamestop again...my personal opinion.

have to say Im kind of dissapointed in Gamestop and how they distribute beta and preorders in general. They always have some sort of problems. My friend actually went to go get a standard preorder for warhammer but they were out of SE keys so the gamestop employee gave him the CE keys even though he was a SE customer. So someone musta got screwed out of the CE keys.

And now they find some more CEs? sounds odd...

He must have got my key...I ordered the CE and got the SE head start pack....

They should, but they aren't.

I prepurchased my CE upfront, in May, and never got my codes period. No ingame items codes, no open beta, no NOTHING. I called and reminded them, and they said they were "out". I asked why I didn't get contacted, no answer. I have to wait until the game goes live for retail to even play for the very first time.

FWIW, a class action against Gamestop, for their handling of pre-orders might be in order. EA Mythic said all 60,000 CE customers would get the bonuses. They weren't limited to a portion of CE customers (as Gamestop indicates). What Gamestop did as use codes for CE customers, to give to SE customers, friends, associates, etc. In other words, they took YOUR property and gave it to someone else. In other words, we could press criminal charges if we wanted to. Class action, criminal charges -- I'm all for it. Might teach them a lesson.

Of course, EA Mythic could have just stepped in and taken over the orders from Gamestop.
