View Full Version : Bird form?

I'm just curious, seeing as the zealot seems to be the chaos class that embraces the bird aspect of Tzeentch the most, any likelyhood that zealots may gain a bird form of some sort, be it a giant crow, or perhaps some form of teleportation where the zealot transforms into a flock of bird and dissapears. Or perhaps that thanks to their devotion to the bird god, gaining mutations that make them more bird like perhaps?

I think thats a matter of opinion, all the classes look as if they are completely devoted to Tzeentch.
But I think if you wanted to add that sort of element to the game, a zealot would be a good choice.
Yea Zealot would be nice, but it sounds more like a Marauder's ability.
Zealot's come out more as a "summoner" whereas the Marauder is the "transformer" (chaos in disguise)
But yea, don't get me wrong. If they put that somewhere in the game I won't complain :)

I hope if they get a bird form it's not a big part of the game. Maybe some sort of travel form or something just for aesthetic purposes.
I wouldn't waste points or money to learn it though. ;)

Ah! Don't say that! Vote no for summoning on Zealot.

Of what I've read about Zealot absolutely nothing implies of any Bird form. I think they said that they would sommun bird allies or something, which would mean they have summoning and a teory I had is that their offensive attacks are made by the use of birds (Imagine the DoTs xD).
About the mutations I'm hoping that compared to the orcs growth when improving the tiers, chaos will get mutations. But I don't think that they in any other way will be granted any bird forms.

I don't know much about warhammer lore, so um, what do we mean by "birds". I had crows in mind when I saw the black feathers on their clothes. Are we talking chickens, emus, penguins?

That would be interesting if it came to pass. I always liked the Druid in that Other Game with its shifting in and out of this or that form. Not that I ever played one. Not beyond level 3 at least xD.
Its the small little nifty things that add to the larger whole.

Hehe yea I'm not saying he will be a "summoner archetype". But he can summon birds. He can summon a scarecrow thing.
But as I just read in this recent conference call his big points sound like "stabby stabby" with healing.
Meaning NO TRANSFORMING. It always makes me scratch my head when people throw up these ideas.... whether they're cool or not, these are not ideas I see going into warhammer anytime soon.
Now, they do hint that they are trying to think of some mutations for the other careers besides Marauders. They sound like it's on a big debate, though, I dunno... but I don't see the Zealot doing any full-scale bird transformations anytime soon. Or ever.

Ravens. They used the term Raven God when describing Tzeentch from the point of view of the Zealot.

OMG if they get penguins I would be all over that.
I would play nothing but a zealot if they had the ability to summon penguins.
Would imo be best class ever created in ANY game.
Just the existence of the penguins would make WAR hands-down the best MMO ever.

I took the "summon flocks of birds" information less ina literal sense. I think that the birds will be physical yet ethereal manifestations of mystical afflictions set on by the zealot- similar to druidic magics of fable (I mean as in Celtic Druids, not like droods). I don't see the zealot as a pet class and I certainly don't see them as having a bird form. The Zealot worships the bird god as an idol so it would make since for one to wear around bird feathers. There are more meaningful aspects of the zealot to be considered than birds!

I took the summoning of Ravens to be possibly akin to the Wisps the Animist would summon, that would rush at a target and damage it on impact (the wisps were not really a summoned pet, as much as a damage effect, or other, that could be killed before delivering their effect to the enemy). Or simply a graphic for a damage over time-like effect. The ravens are a graphical aspect of a spell effect of one sort that we've yet to have described properly.
The scarecrow thing is confusing, yet is a reminder that they are built on the use of symbols, fetishes, icons, and totem-like things that represent effects. The scarecrow would seem to be another example of a symbol, it represents something. What effect it represents I do not know, but again I see the scarecrow as a graphical representation of an effect. Perhaps a spell in an aura around the visual representation of it or something akin to the mushrooms that the Animist in Dark Age of Camelot. Though I do not think they would have actual pets, so the animist example of the Mushrooms is not the best example. I imagine them as more temporary or at least maintained things.
Not that I know. I am simply speculating of course.

I'd like to see this simply for the ability to fly in the game.
Just about the only thing that never bored me in City of Heroes/Villains was the flying. I'm not sure if the zones in WAR have been designed to deal with flyers and it would probably be a pain in PvP.
Maybe they could just make is a transportation mode in the PvE zones? Which might allow flying mounts for other classes.

Hmm, I just thought of an interesting idea. In WoW there are things called Dreadlords (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadlord) in the game. In both warcraft 3 and WoW they had a death animation where they basically explode into a swarm of bats and all that's left is their armor.
I think a similiar death animation would be AWESOME for zealots, or possibly even chaos in general. Since everything's all "custard from the sky, bleedings rats" chaos. It'd be a pretty cool gimmick for someone to explode into a swarm of ravens when dealt a fatal blow.
Or if not death, it'd be a cool teleport (or something along that line) animation.

That indeed would be extremely cool

Ah! Don't say that! Vote no for summoning on Zealot.
Why not? No other class can summon other than a Magi, but I think they've said they won't summon.
In something like Chaos, summoning is like... a must... in some form.
