So I feel as though I have progressed alot in the cultivating skill and I have started to wonder something. I know Adv seeds and fungi can be looted from mobs, and the Adv Soil, water and nutrients from PQ's.

But is there a vendor where I can purchase the same Adv Soils, water and nutrients that I would normally loot from PQ's?

Camping PQ's can get rather frustrating when you roll a low number..

Thanks ;)

Herron:

My understanding is that there are only vendors for the Tier 1 water and soils.

People with scavenging skill is another source for your resources besides PQs. The crafting system was designed to be very codependent on other players.

It does seem odd, though, that Cultivation is the only "gathering" profession that relies on other gathering professions for supplies. Not only that, but it relies on TWO other gathering professions. Water and soil come from Scavenging, while nutrients come from Butchering. It makes more sense with the crafting professions to require items from multiple gatherers, but Cultivation doesn't even produce any finished products...

I have to argue that, Toaster.

Talisman Making requires 4 items to craft. (excluding container)

Fragments - these require salvaging.
Curios - These require scavenging
Essences - These require salvenging
Gold Essenses - These require cultivation to make the items that can be given to apothecaries to be turned into gold essenses.

Talisman Making requires every craft but butchering to complete.

...Cultivation doesn't even produce any finished products...

Cultivation is a gathering skill, not a crafting skill.

That's his entire point. Talisman Making is a crafting skill so it SHOULD require items from all the gathering professions. Cultivation is NOT a crafting profession, and yet still requires items from other gathering professions.

You realize you prove his point don't you?

The point is that you do not 'need' soil, water and nutrients as a cultivator. They are all added benefits when you try to get specific results.

At the moment, the way i see it, soil, water and nutritients reduce the time you need in order to harvest a seed, plus you get sometimes seed refund. Anyone knows if with higher quality soil, water and nutritient will also improve the quality of the herb you will harvest?

As a bare minimum it increases the critical success chance and hence the chance to get apothecary enhancers, pigments for dyes and that you will get the seed back.

I do not know if it can change the actual plant outcome.

Critical success can actually change the plant. You can get a hybrid - either a plant that is different than the seed, or a seed that is different than the seed you grew.

Yeah that happened to me last night. I went from a 75 seed (green) to a 100 seed.

I think the fact that you can't just buy/get good water is why it's always available as a public quest reward.

If you are in a guild that is level 7 or above, you can buy more advanced crafting items from the guild merchant. Your city itself needs to be level 2 for that to open up though, so I have yet to see what items would actually be available.

So many damn things in this game can level up it's hard to keep track of!

For Order I've been given to believe inside Sigmar's Hammer. Which won't be available unless Altdorf is at least rank 2. Better start running sewers :P
