Anyone else a tad dissapointed that there is no Orc ranged class? eg Orc Shaman (im sure I saw a SS of what looked like an Orc Shaman somewhere whilst reading up about this game).

I for one love the look of orcs, always have always will. But I also love playing a ranged class. Played an Orc shaman & Orc hunter in WoW.

Now I have the tough decision of whether to play a toon I love the look of or a class I love to play but dont like the look of as much...

Orcs are built for up close combat, makes sense that they "get stuck in" while the runty gobbos hang back and chuck stuff at the stunties..

Yea... I was reading Gamespot's article and they said the goblins weren't very strong. Very fragile and couldn't really take a hit. So I imagine Mythic is keeping that idea, but building Squig Herders and Shamans around that idea (trying to balance it out somewhat).

Orc Shaman and Goblin "Choppa" (originally Battler) were probably taken out for balance issues. If they kept em in, they'd have to make Orc Shamans different than Goblin Shamans or else Orc Shamans could potentially be overpowered, and same for Goblin Battler (goblin version of Choppa) because they could be potentially gimped. In a way this would create 6 classes for Greenskins, where everyone else will only have 4. I don't see Mark Jacobs liking this idea...

Black Orc.
Orc Choppa.
Orc Shaman. (Orcs are stronger than goblins, so Orc Shamans would have to be different for balance issues.)
Goblin Shaman.
Goblin Battler/Choppa. (Goblins aren't as strong, and a little more fragile, so they'd have to give them more DPS to compensate...or maybe just more stuns or something.)
Squig Herder.

That's at least how I see it. Whatever their real reasons are, I'm sure they're good ones.

But yea. Originally when they took em out, I was a little sad, because they looked super cool. If I played a shaman I probably would have still played a Goblin Shaman, but they definitely looked neato.

And to answer your question, yes. The entire Greenskin forum was filled with a buzz of "OMG NO ORC SHAMAN?!?!" Everyone wanting them in, without any interest for reason or logic in regards to balance. Such is the way of the "majority" I suppose!

Edit: Oh yea, a tip for your choice in playing a class or look. I suggest playing what you enjoy. WoW Shaman isn't going to be exactly like Goblin Shaman. Dunno if you knew that or not... But yea. Squig Herders are gonna be interesting. I think you should probably check them out if you want to play something familiar.

But if you really want to play an Orc. Well just start getting pumped about being a melee class. Especially with all this collision detection, they'll be very neat.

Yes, while in the lore, there are orc shamans, orcs are just way more well known for their melee skills than their magic or archery skills, while goblins are known for sneekyness and higher intelligence than orcs. Therefore, mythic is sticking to that archtype by giving the orcs the warrior classes and giving goblins the ranged and caster classes.

Orc shamans do look cool though, especially Wurrzag the Savage Orc shaman.
