yet if more stats on an item increase fragment chance?

i.e. hey this items got 3 things on it, and one i need, but theres one on here thats +18 instead of +5 - does it matter which you take?

i ask also because i melt an item with 17 int and it gives the same fragment as a 2 int melt. im curious to know if theres a numerical cutoff for an advanced piece of fragment

I do not think it matters.

I have once thus far gotten the same shard type, it was from completely different items and different bonuses but the shards stacked.

Yup, it seems totally random. I have just spent a fortune salvaging renown gear and the rate is so pathetic and random, it would be senseless to try to attach any rhyme or reason to it.

EDIT- Fester, you get a different fragment depending on what ability you choose. I have gotten frags for int., balistic skill, strength, etc...but they are all the worthless level 1 frags which give the +2 bonus.
