View Full Version : Easy salvaging fixes...

I think we can all agree that salvaging is in need of a fix, perhaps it was too hastily implemented? I think one patch can remedy the problems we have with this at the moment. As it stands, you have to farm like crazy, or spend all your gold to level it and talisman making.

The problems:

1. You don't always get a fragment when you salvage, in fact they are quite rare.
2. You don't level your salvaging skill unless you get a fragment(see #1).
3. Salvageable equipment does not say what level is needed to salvage it... It goes through the animation, then at the end "you don't have the required skill to salvage this" It is retarded and annoying.
4. Salvageable equipment is way too rare, and you can't salvage all green/blue equipment, i.e. belts...


The easy fixes:

1. Give a fragment with each salvage.
2. If not #1 then make each salvage level you up regardless if you get a fragment or not.
3. Put what level is needed on all salvageable equipment.
4. Make ALL green or better gear salvageable and or make the salvageable drops much more frequent.

This would make salvaging and indeed talisman making much more enjoyable, and hey, according to Mythic, the professions are not meant to be grindy time/money sinks right?

2. At least give each salvage you do a chance to lvl you up.
3. just add on the the msg you already get if you are not high enough lvl the skill lvl required to salvage the item.

I completely agree. Salvaging and Talisman Making were added into the game just before open beta, so the time we had to properly test these systems were limited at best.

Salvaging drops need to be brought in line with Cultivating drops, and Talisman Making & Salvaging PQ rewards need to be added in just like Apothecary & Cultivating rewards.

I really agree with the suggestions here, and I hope Mythic is reading some of this. I've been very disappointed with Salvaging so far. Every other gathering skill seems to easy enough to manage while keeping pace with one's leveling, but my Salvaging is way behind. At level 14, I think I only have 14 Salvaging, which isn't nearly enough to Salvage the items I get, or the Sundered Equipment which is dropping now.

The Equipment drops really need to be upped. They seem as rare as green items, which isn't good. I even do a fair bit of soloing, and I've hardly gotten anything. And in groups, everyone else who's trying Salvaging rolls for the items, so there are few chances at them. I like the idea of getting them in PQ rewards, too. I can't even recount the number of seeds and spores I've gotten as drops. Why can't we get that much Equipments?

On the matter of leveling Salvaging, I think all that's needed to say has been said. It just doesn't work well. And I'd be fine with having shards as rare as they are, but at least give us skill for breaking stuff instead of merching it.

Oh, and guys just wait until you get into tier 2 and all those nice items that repair into greens are bugged so they cant be repaired :D

I disagree. It is currently fine. We don't want to make it so easy.

You may like the grindy time/money sink yourself, but that is against the goal of Mythic as stated by the devs.

I'd be happy if mob drops + PQ rewards were brought in line with the ones for Cultivating/Apothecary.

Say have ruined/shattered/whatever equipment drop considerably more often (God knows I get about 100 seeds per salvageable item), and have curio/gold essence/magick essence option in the loot bags from PQs just like we have the apothecary pieces.
