Tier 5+ Armor?

Ok, as far as I know T1= Ranks 1-9; T2= Ranks 10-19; T3= Ranks 20-29; and T4= Ranks 30-40

I have been looking through the various concept art at the different armors and weapons for different classes. Next to them they are usually labeled T1, T2, so on and so forth. For example this picture I assume would be armor for a Rank 1-9 Shadow Warrior, a Rank 10-19 Shadow Warrior, a Rank 20-29 Shadow Warrior, and a Rank 30-40 Shadow Warrior.

However I start seeing gear labeled as T5 and beyond (and sometimes even TE ), such as these Shadow Warrior helms. What exactly are these? I assume they are for Rank 40 characters in the end-game, but I am not quite so sure. Can anyone give me clarification on this? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Possibly high Renown Ranked armors get a tier aswell

It's most likely gear you get from high renown rank, sieging the enemy city, and killing the enemy king. In a recent podcast Mythic said that cities are akin to a "5th tier" of gameplay.

Maybe that explains T5, but what about T6 and TE?

I dunno. I personally they don't have a vertical progression past the existing tiers.

If they do add more equipment I'd like to see it balance so that its horizontal progression so it doesn't give a person a fundamental advantage over his opponents and requiring you to grind to keep up with the Joneses.

in the latest pod cast they "suggest" that you could consider the capital cities as a tier 5 zone so it makes sense.

I think it has to do with reknown rank, probably there are more than 40 ranks and so T5 would be rank 41-50 renown and so on.

There are 40 ranks, and 80 renown ranks, do you think that for collecting more renown (what thw game is really about) you wont be able to get better gear??

I am now playing whatever class uses those scythes. The eye on that Chaos shield looks like its about to shoot a laser.

I noticed the weird labeling on those pieces of concept art a while ago too, but didn't think much of it then. Maybe we'll all find out when the NDA is lifted. TE = Tier Epic?

If there are 80 ranks, then the last armor should be tier 8 I suppose.

I'd guess siege and king gear.

I just really hope they change the term to something other than epic, just another thing to accuse it of being a WoW-clone which is no good for the survival of the game.

do you know how many renown ranks there are?

is it possible that as the game progresses they increase renown level cap w/o increasing the rank cap so that you stay at Rank 40 but you can gain more renown ranks (better gear)?
