Tome Unlock - Shawl of Spring Cloak
Hey all, this isn't probably that great of a guide but I get a lot of in game tells regarding this item. So I decided to write a small guide on how to obtain it.
SHAWL OF SPRING GUIDE - Destruction and Order I recently came across a Shaman with a sweet looking cloak with no Rank or Reown requirements. I inspected him and wrote down the name of the cloak. It was called, "Shawl of Spring." I did a search in google and found out it was a reward for a Tome Unlock. After researching it a little more, I figured out exactly which Tome Unlock I needed to do and how to get this sweet reward. Anyway, rather then keeping all this information to myself I decided to write a small guide on how to obtain this simple but kickass looking Cloak. It has no stats but I'm enjoyed having a stylish cloak at the lower Ranks. lol Below is a screenshot of the Cloak on my Black Orc. First off I would recommend that you are at least Rank 8 or grouped up before you attempt to get this Cloak. The mob you have to kill is in a Tier 2 zone and the mobs in the area are around level 11-13. The mob that provides you with this Tome Unlock is named, "Sheen Gloomleaf." She is located in Ostland, Empire Vs Chaos Zone. Below are some screenshots of where you can find this mob. As you can see from the map above, she can normally be found north of the lake behind the house. I have killed her numberous times and she is always there. I don't think she roams. After you kill her, you will receive a tome unlock. Depending on if your Destruction or Order, you will have to head to the city and buy your reward. Destruction Once you receive that unlock head to Inevitable City in the Chaos Zone. Head west to, "The Lyceum." In there you will find an NPC named, "Disciple Venomstung." You will now be able to purchase the "Shawl of Spring." Below are some screenshots to help you find Disciple Venomstung. Order (Thanks to Kuani from Red Eye Mountain for the Info!) Once you receive that unlock head to Altdorf in the Empire Zone. Head west to, "Altdorf Library." In there you will find a NPC named, "Mandred Vogt." You will now be able to purchase the "Shawl of Spring." Below are some screenshots to help you find Mandred Vogt. Well that's about it. Congrats on your first reward Tome Unlock! Cloaks are hard to come by so I hoped this guide helped! Anyway, thanks for reading! I'm heading back to the battlefront.

I just confirmed that this cloak is obtainable as Order. Same instructions as what Orcsama gave you but you buy it from the Altdorf Librarian instead
Here's a screenshot of my Dwarf wearing it, and the guy you buy it from. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...MeadyM_000.jpg

Thats awesome! Thanks for the guide. I'll be grabbing it whenever I can actually log onto my server again. Haha.

Thanks a lot for this guide - I thought that these were guild cloaks, so I was thrilled when I found out they were for such a simple quest. Now I enjoy playing my character a lot more with this thing on, haha!

I'll admit this makes me a bit sad, because I found this on my own while questing a couple days into Beta, and was one of two people I saw on my server wearing it -- until yesterday, when suddenly half the people I was PvPing with were. It's not such a big deal, since it has no stats and it's colors don't match the early dyes that much (at least that I've found), but in the end, the joy of finding something unique is really special.
At least I can be proud a little to know that it's possible I was one of the first people to discover the thing, but part of me still wants to protect the coolness of the Tome Unlocks by not revealing them all so, when they pop up, it feels a lot more awesome. Like that'll ever happen, though. This is, of course, the internetz.

These tome unlock guides kill the exploration part of the game, and possibility of having something unique by chance. |

The choice is completely up to the end user, so if you choose to spoil a chance at exploration by reading a guide, instead of ignoring the guide because you don't want to spoil the surprises and exploring as you normally would, then nobody is to blame but yourself. Regarding having something unique, the cloak is easily accessible, and the information on how to get it was not exclusively located here, so the chance of being among a select few to have it was slim to non-existent to begin with. Authors of guides like the above do no harm at all, on the contrary they help foster a sense of community and dedication to the game. When someone takes the time to do anything to help someone else, especially strangers who they have no obligation to at all, that should be respected and praised.

Uh huh. So much hate.
Just... What about exploration you don't understand? Or about having something unique? It's great thing that exploration is supported in WAR, but you know what will happen to everything special you can get with it. Yup. Everyone will have every cool little thingy. Majority of players just go on playing; questing, RvR or powerleveling and turn off to "explore" only when they know there is this certain thingy gainable that way, and then they go by the map - get it - and get back to their bussiness. Those who did spend 5 hours on area checking every nook and cranny will get it too of course, as well as all other tome openings, but it won't be a mark of a explorer, in a sense like raid rewards mark persons who invest time in PvE. Just to note: there was already thread full of praising, I did merely voice out other opinion. And also: Yes, I should have made new thread about "how tome spoilers kill exploration" instead of whining here. |

Thanks! I love this cloak, and probably would've never found it if it weren't for this handy dandy guide.
