Folks,

Obviously one of the things that players want us to improve is our chat system. We are currently in the process of doing a revision on it but before we go too far, I'm interested in hearing what you want to see in it. So, please use this thread for suggestions for what you'd like to see in a new and improved chat system from us. Please keep the thread on topic and I will not respond to any questions on this thread other than ones that pertain to chat. Also, please don't turn this thread into a "My idea is better than yours" thread as that really isn't helpful.

So, if you have some things you would like to see in our chat system, let me know.

Oh, and you don't need to suggest item-linking in chat, it's already on our list.

I second item linking! Also, I haven't logged in since today's patch came out, but would be nice to move to zone-wide /1 chat instead of the way it's broken down by chapters now.

UPDATE: Add to the Right click menu a sub-menu, the full emote list. So when you click LOL you laugh at the person whos name you right clicked

It's been said before, but zone-wide or tier-wide chat would be nice.

At least, I assume the reason nobody every uses the general chat channels is because they have such short ranges.

Oh, also something like WoW's World Defense channel would be nice. Like, a tier-wide channel that notifies you when your keeps are being assaulted.

Thank god you have item linking in there!

I think most people want a zone-wide chat; it's frustrating not being able to talk to someone if they're just 50 feet away, yes still in the same zone; and it's even harder to find groups

Can I also get the ability to reply to certain people by clicking on their name in my chat window?

People need to read a little lol.

But more on topic: Being able to right click on someones name in chat for things like invites, and whispers would be awesome.

Please for the love of all that is holy do not do entire tier channels, that is just asking for Barrens Chat. A Local Defense and World Defense Channel as well as an RvR lake channel would be great. I have always done a

Also a auction/trade chat wouldn't hurt.

Please make the Zone wide chat off by default. Yes we do need one, but lets do something different and make it off by default, and you can turn it on the same way you turn on channels.

1.) A fairly common request is the ability to click through it.

I know I get annoyed by the right click menu always popping up to lock or unlock it. Kinda wish that was more like the ability bars... a simple little check box that lock them.

2.) Mini whisper windows ala EQ would be nice too.

3.) lol this was item linking. Now its umm... A raid warning type system... yeah thats what I meant... so things typed in chat appear in the middle of the screen for your Warband to see. Do we have this already? lol

4.) Shortening of the Zone names also, so there is not a huge line of text before what you are actually saying... [Someplace way over the rainbow] [Mya says] Hi.

5.) Right click menus for people names... so we can report spam, add to friends, invite to group, etc etc...

Give us a filter for the system messages. I had to make a new chat window just for chat and named the old one to system. When in a Warband doing a Gunbad raid the amount of loot and therefore rolls causes the text to rocket by. I had to do this so I could read what is being said.
