Bit of a weak article, isn't it?

As a loyal soldier of the Empire, I was getting my regulation 40 winks when the City fell, and as far as I'm concerned there's no reason for Order to get angry if they were in bed, right? If, however, it was a case of NO-ONE making use of the /channel Order to keep abreast of the entire server situation, then they've only themselves to blame. If we can get it together on one channel we can take care of stuff like this more easily.

Anyway.

The fact that there exists an exploit as cheap (and obviously well-known if ALL those players just went straight to the postern door) as that is an absolute travesty. I'm happy to join in the Mythic-bashing for once if this is the sort of support the game can expect.

Also - nearly 40 players? At stupid o'clock?

How the bloody hell do you do it? Don't get me wrong, I'm not angered by the lateness of play, I used to clock out of EQ2 at something like 4AM occasionally, but that you can keep a force organised, co-operative and efficient for that long with no drop-outs or people falling asleep at their keyboards is amazing.

Top marks to Destro for dedication and congrats for beating the Americans to the prize! =D

A weak article indeed...

They didn't defeat Karl Franz, right? I mean, THAT'S the ultimate goal, isn't it?

And a victory by exploiting a game bug... C'mon! How desperate one can get to be proud of something like this?

It was basically a PvE achievement, we have yet to see the REAL RvR city fight.

Besides, if the city siege is too easy, Mythic can fix it, right? Nothing to cry about IMO...

I created a post about this:
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/for...d.php?t=127900

These players had clear knowledge from Beta and had no remorse whatsoever in exploiting these obvious bugs in Tier4 to achieve this with little effort.

If the sacking was done through an exploit, how is that a victory? It is against the game-mechanics, and thus not a real victory. If they did it fair and square, congrats, but otherwise, it's pathetic.

They used the backdoor (obvious bug that's still not fixed) to get into the Fortress.

In one of the topics they even claim it's an intended feature haha. Who are they fooling?

I mean, according to them the Chaos Ram Pad and our Siege Defense Pads above the frontgate along with the Hot Oil are appearently only for decoration.

It seems my fear has come to pass. I remember in Beta, there were city sieges going on every night, Destruction would capture two tiers in a matter of hours and we would have Altdorf open for capture.

I have to admit it wasn't as epic as I hoped it would be, and many players preferred to zerg in Reikland rather then attack/defend the city. But I and other gave plenty of feedback on this subject, and I hoped it would get fixed, since I expected it would take at least a month before we would see the first city capture.

But the situation in Beta was kinda biased, because most people capturing at that time were around level 31, and we would outnumber Order most of the time. Still, this may become problematic if nothing is done about it. But I'm sure Mythic will heed the call, because the future of the game depends on it.

I remember a walk through video where (i think) Josh Dresher explained the fortresess. It appears that there is an additional back door, not a postern door, but a real door. A sort of additional entry point. I think the ninjas used this door to get in.

Hi all,

We were well aware of the attempt, and I have to stress not to worry - capturing a city, let alone the campaign, is no small feat.

The group here was able to take advantage of some bugs that have since been fixed (literally within a day of the attempted siege.)

They were able to get in through the postern (back) door of the one of the fortresses which is ordinarily only accessible to the defending side therefore bypassing many of the defenses and guards they'd have to get through to achieve access to the Fortress' Lord.

In addition the timer to lock down two Fortresses in any two of the three pairings (which is how you unlock the city for assault) was set incorrectly at 36 hours instead of 12.

We have also recently increased the difficulty of Fortress Guards and Lords to create an even more challenging experience.

Couple these with a lack of defending players and it's clear how they were able to assault the city.

The city itself worked perfectly as designed and the attacking force was unable to defeat a single Public Quest within barring them from locking the city down and gaining access to the King.

Once many more players enter Tier 4 it will be a whole other ball game and with the changes we've already made you probably won't see this again until players gain the coordination and strength to attempt it...we can't wait for that to happen!

We're all excited for the first big Capture Attempt, but the road is not easy and capturing the city is only half the battle as you have to contend with the champions of the realms of the kings, blessed by the gods themselves, and the challenges they have waiting for you within their castles.

Thanks all, we hope this cleared up any confusion you might have

I really hope these exploiters get their just desserts. The last thing we need are people who think exploiting bugs are an acceptable way to play the game. 7 day suspension would be about right methinks.

Does part of your bug fixes include locking sides out of RvR objectives until you deem we're worthy to attempt to seige a Fortress? Seems to be the case on Skull Throne. (US)

Let us play the game we paid for.

Glad this happned this fast tbh, let's them fix the bugs that were hard to find. I've been on pug Keep take overs and they're challenging, I'd hope that taking fortresses over is a wee bit more challenging then that

Liking the changes they made.
