De-synching

I've seen both sides do it. I of course notice more when destro does it, but I'm not denying that order does it as I've seen it.

The question is, what can we do about it? I report players I see doing it often, and I feedback that something needs to be done.

One thing that many folks will probably be against that I'd like to see: If you de-synch, you immediately drop any flag or bauble you are carrying.

Another: If you've: 1) Been in combat within the past 10 seconds 2) are using Flee 3) are at 50 percent health or less and 4) you de-synch.. You die. End of story.

I'm tired of this. I know destro is tired of it too.

Are you talking about old school window dragging like DAOC or disconnecting from the client?

Creating a delay in your client and the server to make you appear where you are really not.

Any purposeful method someone can come up with to de-synch from the server so that their toon "runs in place" on everyone elses screen while their actual toon is running forward.

There are a few ways to do it.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I can find ways to do it the question begs "why".

Am I the only person who never tries to find cheats and exploits in a game? I know I'm not but it certainly feels like it.

I've run across a lot of Dwarf Rune Priests and flag carriers that are just almost impossible to kill.

a big problem with any of these solutions is that if your internet connection flickers, then you are going to be wrongfully punished.

TSTC, I'm going to report Glook for making me lag at the LAN and causing me to de-sync.

I see this ALL the time with rune priests and shadow warriors. I run up to them and start attacking and then all of a sudden they're WAY THE HELL OVER THERE.

I wonder if this is what I've experienced a lot of from Order guys. Not suggesting it's only Order but since I'm fighting them I don't see it from Destruction. Now I'm one of those people who would NEVER use any sort of game exploit so I'm pretty ignorant and a bit naive to what they are and when I come across one.

One thing I have seen a lot of, and this isn't class specific; I've seen lots of different classes do it, and that's toons disappearing and reappearing some distance away. For instance, I close the distance and melee the enemy with my witch elf duo partner. Their health starts going down and we know we've got them and then "abracadabra" they disappear and I see them running away in the distance. This can't be attributed to lag only, or is it. I mean, I never lag like that and reappear over in the distance.

If this is an exploit let me know and I can start reporting them.

That is exactly what desynching does.

From what's been described in this thread, I see Destruction players also use this desynching method.

They appear to be standing still for 2-3 seconds while everyone else attacks normally, then bam, they're behind a wall or something else. I always just assumed they were lagging or something .

Thank you. I'll let my guild know and start taking names.

This happened to me once (I desynced) when I got a big lag spike, but I think the chances of it happening "accidentally" are pretty small.

Is that so? Well then damn, I think I need to start taking names down too, 'cause I see it all the time. I always figured it was because I was body blocking them or something...
