This thread is reference material pertaining to the 08' Witching Night Event.

Why & How & What's the point? (5 reasons):

1) Completion of the Witching Event Quest Objectives

* Restless Spirits Slain: 0/50
* Withering Crones Slain: 0/25
* Witching Lords Slain: 0/10

UPDATE ON WITCHING LORDS SLAIN: You get a Witching Lord credit for every time you kill the mob + one additional credit for everyone in your group. So in order to get the total slain 10, you may have to only kill it 2 or 3 times if you are in a full warband.

UPDATE ON NPCS GIVING INFLUENCE REWARDS: Sometimes there is a bug with the NPCs that will not show the gear or influence icon, and everything is grayed out, even though you meet the required influence.

SOLUTION: Walk a distance away from the influence reward npc and come back. After doing that the usual blue influence icon will be above his head. Waiting several minutes as well as logging out and back in neither worked.

3) Unique Titles:

* The Spooky - Drink the potion obtained from basic influence reward.
* Witch King - Complete objective of killing 50 Restless Spirits, 25 Withering Crones, 10 Witching Lords, and than you have to go kill 1 more Withering Crone (confirmed).

The Tier 1 Public Quest will be located in Chrace
The Tier 2 Public Quest will be located in Troll Country
The Tier 3 Public Quest will be located in Black Fire Pass
The Tier 4 Public Quest will be located in Caledor

Public Quest Stages
STAGE 1: Kill 100 Enemy players in predetermined oRvR lakes before the other side does.
STAGE 2: Kill 1 Witching Lord (nearby)

NOTE: Expect an hour or two to pass after a Witching Night Public Quest is completed before you'll be able to try it again.

Where are Witching Lords?

Witching Lords can be found at stage 2 of the Witching Night PQ's.

Where are Restless Spirits, Withering Crones?
Restless Spirits and Withering Crones can be found at cauldrons throughout the world. When you arrive at a cauldron there will be Withering Crones guarding it. Once you kill the Withering Crones you will be able to click on the cauldron and then Restless Spirits will spawn. 3-4 Withering Crones guard and 8-12 Restless Spirits spawn.

There is exactly a 5 minute reset timer from when the cauldron explodes until it reappears in the same exact location. (confirmed)

I've finished the PQ, but where are the mobs to kill?
After the PQ I have maybe 1/8 of the first bubble in the inf bar filled. :\

Mobs are outside of the RvR zone. I've killed spirits and crones in Dragonwake but have not found a Lord.

Influence required: very high. Seems like at least 10,000 for Basic, which (assuming the same pattern as other influence rewards) would mean that you need 40,000 for Elite rewards.

Now Destruction are not showing up because we started winning.

They'll show up later, though, when the zerg logs on.

Are the numbers actually showing up for you? I mouse over the PQ bar and it doesn't show a thing.

There are 3 Witching Crones located near the spawn location of Oldbark in Avelorn. My entire group was getting a kill count of 2 per crone so we only have to wait 5 times for the reload. The cauldron opens up about 10 Restless Spirits so if you simply farm them 5 times you will get the first two unlocks.

3 witching crones in high pass, just north of Temple of change (O PQ)
Kill them, interact with the cauldron to spawn 10-20 spirits, all can drop masks

i just got to elite by camping one cauldron area the cauldron spawn timer is slow but its worth like 2k inf if you kill everything.

Just took the PQ for Order on Vortex in Troll Co.
A Massive skeleton lord appears in the wood west of Mandred.
Was crazy fun.

I got a purple and I took second.
