Windows 7 is better. If you have the machine to run it then there is no reason to go back. I would not even dual boot xp at this point. I maybe could understand if you were talking about vista but after having had Windows 7, I could not go back to xp.
I just disable UAC. It is more of a pain in the butt for anyone who knows good and smart internet safety skills. Luckily it is easy to do in Windows 7. |

I switched to 7/64 on my home rig back during the beta and have never looked back. For gaming at least, I've noticed a huge improvement over Vista/XP.

Warhammer is running in admin mode by default, I also have some crashing issues on Windows 7 64 bit. It crashes on regular basis after few zonings usually when some zerg fight is about to start.

Just felt like I needed to add this;
I have Windows 7 64bit and after I couldn't start my old warhammer from Vista because of some weird error no one has ever fixed, lol, I reinstalled it. I managed to install Warhammer, I managed to patch it but I cant start it because I get the same error. Some people said I have to start in administrator mode, but I am on an admin account and I have tried to right-click and select run as administrator. Loads of errors, I changed virtual memory and checked my ram. However, my friend installed it on his computer and I copied it over to my computer, and that worked. But not the old folder I had o.O nor installing a fresh copy and copying over the old files and patching. What's going on? Now I have my Warhammer (not quite installed) in my e:\upload folder, which makes me wanna gouge my eyes out because I usually have all of my files in order |

Ok little update.
I still can't enter scenarios -> black screen of death -> forced reboot This is what I've done so far (I'm running WAR from the admin account, but just to be on the safe side did go through the step of running WARpatch as admin.) - reinstalled WAR completely - after reponse from GOA CS: - deleted User , Cache and Interface folders and deleted data.myp in main WAR directory - did a restart with full file check - installed the dx End-User Run files - installed the August 2009 dx redistributable (in case the game, which is a dx9 game wants to find dx9 .dll's which weren't really there under dx11) Each of these steps did not bring any change. I can play the game, but whenever I want to enter scenarios I crash with black screen of death (The only little change now is that I crash quite quickly when on the scenario zoning in screen, whereas before I had a strange visual effect where a pattern of little squares appeared on the screen) I'm pretty much at my wits end. Someone recommended to do a fresh windows 7 - 64 bit install, instead of the update from Vista -64 which I did. However, I would rather not like to go through the huge time needed to do this and then running the risk that the same bug happens again. Any other ideas? |

Ok, looks like some progress now, and it might have even been only a silly easy thing:
I have disabled "Use application settings" in Anti-Aliasing and Ansiotropic filter in the Catalyst control centre and have been able to get into scenarios tonight. Lets just hope the whole thing will last... |
