The Fluff king has returned!!

I know this game is all about 'WAR" - but what better way to put yourself into the THICK of it than to have an immersive game experience so its not all about the fighting. You need to feel as though you are LIVING in this world, so that you actually CARE about being at WAR!!!

Its all about the suspension of disbelief.

To help -

-Fish in the water
-Small animals you can kill and skin for crafting
-NPC going on about thier daily lives
-Leaves/snow falling/rainign/lighting
-Realistic water effects (this help make the world more "Real")
-Player housing
-Shop Ownage
-Hobbies to pass the time (say, WAITING for group members) such as fishing, carving...

Please feel free to add more

Pretty sure you'll find most of that in at release. I think Gamers have come to expect those types of things, with the possible exception of player owned shops. When you say "fluff" I tend to think of the more annoying/pointless things like Christmas decorations and other seasonal garbage, or dancing contests.

Totally agree.
Also, I'm pretty sure none of the last three will make it into the game. We already have a kind of housing "guild halls". Owning a shop would get waaay to crowded later on in the game if it's a thing every can get later on or it will be a just few which will make a lot of people angry. And the last one, they have been quite specific on that they wouldn't ad none war-ish proffesions to the game such as fishing.

The bold is what i really care about. I'm tired of MMOs that have like 10 NPCs per city whose only purpose is to give you quests and sell junk to you. I want the cities to be full people that may or may not have anything to do with gameplay going about their random daily lives. I don't want a single lone child delivering packages to the vendors every 10 minutes saying the same exact thing every single time.

As for the other things...some will probably be there during release and others probably will never make it.

I agree to a point, I hated WoW's sense of seasonal in-game things, but I think everquest had a great idea of things to do for it. Remember Halloween? Wasnt just "Go talk to NPC's and get candy!", giant skeletons were invading the place, while it had that roll-your-eyes factor, it was actually quite entertaining

We have a lot of really great ambient effects.

There are times though where you have to draw the line between ambiance and performance. One of the things I really love about WAR though is how organic it feels.

Altdorf and the Inevitable city though are full of NPC life with dogs running through the streets are people talking about the latest rumors.

Having a world that feels like a tangible place and presents a vibrant depiction of Game Workshop's Warhammer is very important to us

I couldn't agree more with all these affects. It's extremely lame walking through a city and seeing a lot of houses but no residents.

I think that Mythic will fulfill our hopes though. I heard that there are a group of actors that will perform plays. That's really innovative and I definitely will be there to watch in awe.

But there's definitely a good bit for the player to interact with the environment with things like the bar fight quest.

I like going exploring and looking at the mundane little things that the developers put into the game.

What i really want to know is... when we raid the cirty can we kill those actors? oh i'd hope so ;p

From what ive heard so far i think mythic are going about it the right way.
I would not however expect to see things such as fishing (thankfuly) in the game.

I wouldn't mind seeing fishing as something you could do in your spare time. I wouldn't want it as a skill at all. But maybe a Fishing Tournament mini game or something like that.

this thread isnt very war. allow me to help.

-make players float in the water like Fish after kicking their butt in rvr
-Small players you can kill and skin for crafting
-NPCs running in terror for thier very lives
-Leaves/snow falling/rainign/lighting *this one i liked*
-Realistic water effects (this help make the world more "Real") *like this one too*
-guild housing
-Hobbies to pass the time (say, WAITING for group members) such as world pvp, and carving small toys out of the bones of your enemies...

Excellent! Let the thunder roll!

Nice to know the devs are WHF fanatics themselves, and are making a game they'd also want to play the heck out of.

I approve of this topic. MMO's are sorely lacking the ability to make a squirrel fur suit!

Also, festive trinkets that make you look like the race of the enemy side is silly. Skinning a couple dozen people to make a suit that looks similar to the race of the enemy you skinned the hides from? Genius!

Please, think about it! If you can get away with a Teen rating with the ability to skin every animal imaginable, what's the harm of doing it to players? Equal representation!

I hope to see some of those things as well.

In another recently released game, I saw a dog chasing a cat. I thought, what the hell, and joined the chase. In doing so, I ended up in an alley where there was a mission giver that otherwise I would have totally missed. That's cool.

I also like another poster's idea of carving small toys for our children out of the bones of our enemies... (that reminds me so much of G'Kar from B5)
