The Wild Hunt dungeon is for Tier 1 characters only...it has nothing to do with the lack of T4 content the poster you replied to mentioned. And fortresses may come back in one way or the other, but its far from certain. Atm we are still waiting for the other 4 cities Mythic assured us would be re-implemented as soon as possible when they first informed us they would not make it into launch over a year ago.

I am currently playing EVE a little, and Aion. I am lurking and rarely posting here because I really like a lot of the stuff in WAR, just dislike too much of it at this time to enjoy the game. Basically, I am hoping against better knowledge it may yet become the game I used to enjoy.
For the rest, I dont actually care the least what you think. Its a simple fact that there has been a lot of content cut since the late beta, up to now, that much of this content received substantial work before (hi fortresses) and has now been taken out entirely, and that this is quite obviously not the best idea for a game which is losing its players largely at the endgame, not at the beginning (T1 and T2 do work great, I ll readily admit that) due to not offering enough interesting things to play. When you cut out something like fortresses, which has gotten more dev attention than almost any area of the T4 game in terms of re-programming stuff (limiting them, turning them into their own zones, balancing the fights, constantly messing with the mobs, droptables) that is about the worst sign you can get from a developer team. Either they held onto a totally undoable, senseless feature far too long and wasted precious thousands of man-hours on something that never was worth it, in which case they are just not very good designers.... or they removed a large part of their work because they have to give up trying to fix it, and admit they are unable to work at the level required to make the game work. And lets not get into the insanity of the Wild Hunt dungeon, fixing it for the last few days of the event, then dumping it to basically nothing. WAR remains ,and this will hopefully show in the new Endless Free Trial, a game that went that one step further than its competitors trying to invent new concepts, and breaking some rules while not changing the basic genre. Maybe it didnt go far enough, maybe it went too far, but anyone playing Lvls 1-19 can likely see the great game beneath the slightly dated looks. But after one year, they still havent been able to get the rest of the game to that level of playability, but they put thousands of hours, money and time into features that are then abandoned, cut out, or (in the case of cities) never appear and are just used for PR purposes. Mythic, the endless trial is a good idea. You probably bought some time there. Use it. And this time, dont dump it on a short week of PvE and a live event please. |

It's kind of funny to see all these people who probably haven't subbed to WAR for a long time to talk as if they know what's going on.
Scenario being dominating? That was very long ago, open RvR happens much more since they upped the rewards for taking objectives and locking zones. They sure as heck aren't taking out fortress completely, I am not sure how someone would come to that conclusion when the devs said they will be repurposed. I certainly don't see any work done on the other 4 missing cities beyond concept art, and even if they did, it's unlikely those assets isn't put to use in other areas (I think some dev said that the current capitals have stuff originally from the planned cities). The cut careers are all back (except hammerer which got replaced by slayer), armor tokens came back in form of crests/medallions, so I don't really get how people can say WAR having a lot of cut content. |
