Are Guilds Alt friendly?
Basically as the title asks. I remember Mythic saying somewhere the each member will contribute exp to the guild based on the number of members in the guild. Meaning in larger guilds each member will contribute less exp and in smaller guilds each member will contribute more.
If thats the case it seems have alts in the guild will slow the actual exp gain. Any thoughts on this? |

Guild exp has to do with the number of players in the guild actually contributing exp. So if the alts are just hanging out and not exping, they shouldn't be detrimental to your guild's exp.

Ah ok, thats interesting.
I think inevitably an Alt will exp. It would be a neat feature if the Guild Leader could set a permision that toggled whether or not a rank contributed exp to the guild. But I suppose that might make it easier for some guilds to level faster. |

Missy, is there a writeup somewhere explaining how guilds gain experience in detail in relation to the number of members?

What does that mean, really? Does it apply a formula that's calculated daily/weekly based on which characters were active or something along those lines?

I assume there is an "optimal" guild size that mythic figured out at some point. I don't know the number, buts lets just say its 40 active people. If a guild has 40 active people exp it will level the fastest a guild can possible level. If a guild has say 60 active people, those 60 people will generate the same amount of exp for their guild as would a guild with 40 active people. I also assume a guild with say 20 active people will not level as fast as a guild with 40 active people.

What? Isn't every toon being played exping? No one makes an alt or has a guild buddy that stays at rank 1. |

Wrong i do, I always in every game have a alt that is strictly my money man. One that sits near mailbox and Ah and buys and sells crap for me (so that i dont have to travel there with my main). So it is a alt that is a major part of my playing but does not do any exping.

I'd be really curious to see how the guild xp system works as well. You say that if a character is just hanging out they aren't hurting the guild but what if that alt is level 2 and has killed things do they from that point on hold the guild back because they're not getting more xp?

You can learn how a guild gains Experience by pressing h and going to the game manual in game and looking up guilds.
It basically works like this. Quest Experience, and PvE experience contribute to your guild experience. I do not know the conversion. RvR experience, Scenario experience and Renown all contribute 100% to guild experience as well as your own. Guilds do not take into account alts of accounts. You will not lose experience if people leave the guild. Any guild should not shy away from accepting alts, as they contribute to the guild and its just a courtesy to the members of the guild.

Looking for clarification:
To this point, the message is that guild XP accrues based on the comparison of the XP gained with the total number of characters in that guild, including alts. (Raw guild XP gained) * (X / Total characters) = (Guild XP Gained) I imagine the actual algorithm is significantly more complex with some sort of stepping involved, but that's a rough idea. The rationale behind this, to my understanding, would be to allow smaller guilds to advance at a similar level to gigantic zerg guilds despite the dramatic difference in the number of people earning XP for them. Is that proportional system no longer in place? Was it a misconception on our part?
