Custom Graphic Card Settings = A New Game Altogether

I was looking at some game developer videos of WAR and went "WTF, that video looks like a Xbox 360 game and totally different from mine which looks like crap". The game was indeed not optimized enough to get the most out of my rig.

So I went to do some tweaking and this is the result I got. I myself felt pretty dumb for trusting the in-game graphic settings alone till now. For some weird reason I can't explain, my FPS in scenarios was way smoother with prettier graphics! If you don't get at least this kind of details in your game on a half-decent rig, be sure to do something about it. You are missing out something on your WAR experience!

System Specs:
ATI Radeon HD 3800
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz
2GB RAM
Windows Vista 32-bit

Custom Settings on Graphics Card:
Tweaks should be similar on a Nvidia card as well.
- Anti-Aliasing: 8X, Temporal enabled, Edge-detect 24X
- Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: Disabled (It messes up the transparent parts of face polygons.)
- Anisotropic Filtering: 16X
- Catalyst AI: Disabled
- Wait for vertical refresh: On
- Triple buffering: Enabled

In-Game Settings:
- All Enabled to Maximum Settings
- lightmaps="false" in UserSettings.xml file and made that file read only. This gives a huge FPS boost in scenarios. My armor no longer glows that nicely anymore when I get knocked into infamous Tor Anroc lava pits. But I would trade that glow for much smoother gameplay in PvP.

Wow that's nice. I don't think I can do that sort of thing with my graphics card though

Wow! I have the ingame settings to "high quality" or whatever the highest setting is, and it looks NOTHING like that. I need to make the changes in my card's toolbar software thingy then? The ingame settings (from inside the game itself, not the game files) don't seem to even let me make those changes unless I'm missing something.

Yeah, I do similar things with my nVidia control panel. I only have AA and AF on 4x, and the scars on the Orc NPCs I run by really pop. Armor looks incredible. Looks very similar to your picture, OP, actually.

Suprisng actually, I put on all the settings that he said and turned down the pre-rendered frames level to 1.

I went to reikland, (however you spell it) and ran 60 fps with 30~40 people running across my screen.

Thats a 8800GTS 320mb @ 720p.
