This year we wanted to do something special for the community and we thought that Halloween marked a fantastic time of year to celebrate. This year will mark our first annual WAR Craft contest here at Warhammer Alliance. It's a great opportunity to share your excitement and practice your WAR crafting skills. This year, the contest takes the form of a pumpkin carving contest. This year we've got some fantastic prizes lined up, check it out.

How to Win!

To participate in the Warhammer Alliance WAR Craft contest you must carve a pumpkin, take a picture of it and upload it to the special WAR Craft gallery. Each real life photograph must include a pumpkin that you carved and the word "WHA" or "Warhammer Alliance" in the photograph. All entries must be uploaded to the gallery before October 30th PST. Winners will be chosen and announced on October 31st. Winners will be chosen in the following three categories.

Career Specific Pumpkin
Is your pumpkin a Bright Wizard, or a Goblin Shaman. Make your pumpkin reflect your favorite previously announced Warhammer Online career. Use whatever props or ideas you can find or imagine to make sure your pumpkin best reflect your favorite career. In order to submit your pumpkin to this category, upload your photograph into the WAR Craft gallery and title it "Career - <Name of Career>". If your pumpkin was a Bright Wizard you would name your entry, "Career - Bright Wizard".

Order Specific Pumpkin
Has your pumpkin declared its allegiance to the Alliance of Order? Does it march in the ranks of the Elves, Dwarfs and Empire army? If it does, upload your photograph to the WAR Craft gallery and title the entry, "Alliance of Order". Get our your knives and carve a pumpkin that best embodies the Alliance of Order or one of its races.

Destruction Specific Pumpkin
Pumpkins for the pumpkin throne? If your pumpkin is a pock marked Goblin, an axe wielding Orc, or a chaos spawning Chaos Spawn this is the category for you. Upload your image to the WAR Craft Gallery and title the entry, "Alliance of Destruction". Carve up some destruction and make a pumpkin that embodies the Alliance of Destruction or one of its races.

Prizes

Grand Prize - Warhammer Online Beta Key
One entry in each of the three categories will be chosen as the Grand Prize winner. Each Grand prize winner will receive a Warhammer Online Beta key and given the opportunity to play the Warhammer Online Beta this December. Winners must be able to submit their computers system specification and meet the minimum system requirements of the beta.

1st Prize - Best Destruction Specific Pumpkin
One entry in the Destruction Specific category will be selected as a 1st prize winner. This winner will receive the "Hardback Book - Liber Chaotica Complete". For the first time in recorded history, all the secrets of the Realm are laid bare in a mammoth book that collects all the previously published volumes plus a section on Chaos Undivided.

1st Prize - Best Order Specific Pumpkin
One entry in the Order Specific category will be selected as a 1st prize winner. This winner will receive the "Hardback Book - The Art of Warhammer" and the "Hardback Book - The Life of Sigmar". In the first book you'll find one of the best collections of Warhammer Artwork ever compiled. In the second, the legend of Sigmar, warrior-god and central hero in the Warhammer fantasy mythology, is told for the first time.

1st Prize - Best Career Specific Pumpkin
One entry in the Career Specific category will be selected as a 1st prize winner. This winner will receive the "Autographed Warhammer Online Poster" and a "Warhammer Online "Waaagh" T-Shirt". The poster is signed by dozens of the EA Mythic developers and features two different depictions of the glorious world that is Warhammer Online. The "Waaagh" shirt is mean and green and features the word "Waaagh" across the front.

Additional Prizes - Exclusive WAR Craft Avatars
In addition, ten more entries will be chosen as runners up and be given this very swank and very exclusive WAR Craft avatar made by community member and comic guru, Father Jack of The Secret Lives of Mobs. This avatar will be exclusive to these 10 winners.

Rules

• Entries must be recieved before October 30th PST.
• Winners will be announced on October 31st, 2007.
• Limit one entry per category, per person.
• More than one entry in a category invalidate you from the contest.
• Dwarfs with beards under two feet in length are not eligible.
• You must properly title your entry in the gallery, entries that are not properly titled will not be considered.
• You cannot be affiliated with any other Media Outlet or Fansite.
• Entrants will not hold liable Warhammer Alliance for subsequent Chaos corruption.
• Entrants must be able to provide a valid mailing address.
• Winners must respond to private message before November 7th, 2007 PST or forfeit their winnings.
• Grand Prize Winners must be able to meet EA Mythic's hardware requirements.
• Pumpkin throne not included.
• Warhammer Alliance retains the right to cancel, change, or modify the contest guidelines, rules, and prizes.
• Questions regarding the giveaway should be forwarded through the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the site.

Two Ways to Keep a Carved Pumpkin from Rotting for Up to 2 Weeks!

1. Bleach & Water Solution: Mix a bleach solution in a container big enough to soak the pumpkin in (formula: 1teaspoon Blech/1 gallon of water). After carving your pumpkin, soak it in the bleach solution for 8 hours. After 8 hours, take it out, and let it dry. For each day after that, apply a coat of the bleach solution to the inside and outside of the jack-o'-lantern. Fill a spray bottle with the solution if you have one handy. Otherwise just dunk the pumpkin into the container with the bleach solution and then let it dry.
2. "Pumpkin Fresh": A commercial pumpkin preservative that is sold at most department stores or craft stores. It comes in a small bottle that resembles a mini hairspray bottle. Spray the freshly carved jack-o'-lantern inside and out every day.

Either method will keep your jack-o'-lanterns from developing mold and rotting. This is handy if you plan on working on your carving for more than a couple days. Both methods have been tested and preserve the outside of the jack-o'-lantern almost perfectly for up to 14 days.

Sounds like fun.... Now... I'm actually wondering whats the better prize... "Hardback Book - Liber Chaotica Complete"or getting a beta Key, tought one that is. (at least for me as I can't find it locally and the book is forever, a beta key is for a few months...)

Though I do have one question, does "WHA" have to be in the pumpkin, or just in the pic? And for this contest do you need to be over the age of 18 (I know, I wish I was that young, but I've seen the other contests, and they all say over 18 to win a beta key, don't want anyone not to win then not be able to get into beta).

I am of the same opinion. I like books. I like computer games. Hmmm, either one would be good.

The "WHA" or "Warhammer Alliance" must be in the photograph, not necessarily in or on the pumpkin. This is simply to ensure people don't try and submit pumpkins they didn't create themselves. I'll have an example, later today. As for the beta key, the application normal restrictions apply.

hmmmm...I am quite bad at carving pumpkins...

Maybe its because of the cheap plastic knives I use?
