Spotlight on: Guides - Night of Murder

Spotlight on: Guides - Night of Murder

This week, we thought it would be appropriate to turn our Spotlight on some helpful guides for the Night of Murder Event. The Night of Murder is Mythic's answer to Valentine's Day. Inspired by Death Night, the most important holiday for the Dark Elves in Warhammer, the Night of Murder is the time of Khaine. Death and his servants are everywhere. The Night of Murder arrived last Friday with the sound of thousands of screams and will continue until Sunday the 15th. With Murder everywhere though, what should you be doing?

We have a couple helpful resources to Spotlight in an effort to help you get the most carnage out of the Night of Murder.

No knock against the authors or Mythic, but I completed the event in 2 nights of just doing scenarios without a guide. I didn't get the task for Keep Taking, but it was more than enough INF to push me to the elite reward. The only thing I wasn't in a SC for was the throwing of the skulls (did that at a warcamp) and the Shrine of Khaine. I walked out of the warcamp, bout 30 seconds, hit it and done.

Oh, and I did it at level 32.

I wouldn't call it a bad event. I'm glad it wasn't as tedious as Keg's End. It was somewhere between that and Heavy Metal.

I think this has been the best event so far.

I don't know if Mythic realise it yet, but the marked for dead system could be the best thing they have added since the game launched. It would be a crying shame if we didn't see it added as a perm feature of the game in one way or another.

My idea: Replace the current Keep/BO quests with the marked for death quest and change the reward from XP/Gold to +200 renown. This would help build the incentive to defend much more than the XP/Gold especially for level 40s with plenty of cash.

At the same time cut the renown earned from Keep takes and BOs by 50% to kill off the people who refuse to engage the enemy because they get more renown from PVE.

We would see a number of benefits from these changes. 1/ People would earn the most renown from killing players and not PVE. 2/ People wouldn't mind dying if it meant while they were back at the WC they could hand in the 25kill quest and the marked for death quest. 3/ As people wouldn't mind dying as much (when they completed their quests) people would be much more aggresive in their fights rather than always running away.

I can't decide if they should be left in Scenarios or not, what do you think?

I thoroughly enjoyed NoM - a little easier to get the elite jewel but not as much of a grind as Keg End. Not sure whether the title is worth going for though.
Marked for Death should become a permanent addition - I'd like to see the posting back of skulls expanding a bit - perhaps becoming some sort of ongoing vendetta; not only between individuals but between guilds and their leaders?

Would be really fun to have a player trophy system like collecting Ears from <insert game that was, because I forget>.

As a WAR noob that started on Sunday the 1st, I was glad that I could actually participate in the event. Granted I can't make use of my crystal until R35, but I got it and have almost completed all the tasks. I finished most of them before even getting to T2.

My hats off to the designers of this accessible event.

I completely agree. And hell, I did it at rank 21ish. I think the need for guides for the this Live Event is a bit redundant.

Agree on that, the redundancy of this live event makes just plain clear, that developers rather make new boring events then fixing the old content and classes. The same happens with the choppa and slayer; both are ment to take away the focus from what is broken in the game to something new, which everybody has to level as it is the flavor of the month. This is something mmos need to fix in general....

Another thought - how about if a guild takes a keep and subsequently loses it, the guild leader loses his head which is stuck on a pike on the keep wall; the guild then loses it's abilities for 24 hours or until the keep is retaken.
More head lopping!
More trophies!

Just a friendly reminder, today February 15th is the LAST day for this event!

On a side nice "over all" event.

Activity good
Difficulty requires only that you play... can obtain all rewards in RvR / Scenario's. (completed on a level 16 warrior priest)
Rewards disappointing.
Creativity good
Enjoyment good

1st two rewards are as useful as a used staple, and the 3rd reward is High Quality, and is the only makes my WP look like a pimp!
