Rumour: What's that in the sky?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a....DRAGON?!

With Night of Murder taking place and Bitter Rivals, Beyond the Sands and Rise of the Tomb Kings on its way, a little bird might have dropped a note on yet another event, this one planned for August. If you've been following Paul's twitter (although maybe you would rather support Josh Drescher in the ongoing twitter war!) you might have seen this little piece of 25 minutes ago:

I'll just let that stand on its own.

Except for a little piece of lore: there are currently no "real" dragons ingame (at least not that I've seen ), lorewise, just younglings like the Sun Dragons and Black Dragons of Naggarond, which are more drakes than dragons. Real dragons are freaking HUGE.

Then what the heck was it that I hypnotized in T4 elf lands? Looked like a dragon to me!

You mean like the ancient lives-in-the-center-of-the-world kind of dragons? Like the bones scattered everywhere in Caledor?

Awesome! Anything but the poor hopeless beasties in the HE v DE zones.

[edit] actually I take that back, the dragons/drakes in the game currently are pretty darn awesome as it is.

There are, however, banana hands.

Pshaw. Sun "Dragons", the Black "Dragons" of Ulthuan and their brethren are the youngest dragons. They don't compare to the "real" kind of dragons such as Moondragons, Star Dragons or Imperial/Emperor Dragons

Remember all those giant dragon skeletons in Elf T4? THOSE dragons.

Edit: Some examples of miniatures:

I really like that Mythic is doing so many of these special events. It is wise for people (and companies) to emphasize things they do well while working on things that need improvement. The developers do events very, very well, while 1.2 proves that they are continuing to address bugs and balance.

So these events will give people a reason to try or revisit the game, which will be more polished and satisfying each time they return, until many ultimately stay. This is a really smart way to build a player-base. I hope it works.

It's also smart to have such events and fixes over the coming months with several competing products which feature PvP due over the next year or so: Aion, SWTOR, Jumpgate Evolution, and maybe Guild Wars 2.

I was going to make the comment about the huge skeletons that you see travelling through T3 Badlands, but someone already beat me to the graveyard reference.
If dragons are introduced, how are you going to see it? All youll be able to target is a hook claw or spur.

There is actually a Lair Boss dragon that can be spawned in Dragonwake if you collect enough candles or something like that. It's been awhile since I've played T4 so i forget, but it's there.

I have to agree. While Im sure some people will take the tired old line of "they should be focussing on..." these live events are a serious motivator for people to get on and play (limited time items are a goldmine). This last week there's been a huge amount of RvR going on, and let's face it, the game is simply better when there's a large number of people playing.

I do think however they're a bit too grindy in places (Keg End was horrible, and NoM feels like there's a bit too much Influence required for the Elite reward) - I reckon Heavy Metal got it just right.

I can imagine it like an old SNES boss or something.

Have to attack the claw until it gets angry and pops its head out, then attack its head, then the body when it tucks its head back in

GW dragons kick so much tail too as you all can see from the miniatures. They look mean, dangerous, even frightening. If the animators are true to form as they have been in bringing the other models to life we are all in for a treat.
