On the Horizon: PTS Open To All Players

Sometime next week, apparently the Public Test Server will be open to all players; according to a Twitter from Andy Belford, Mythic's Warhammer Online Community Coordinator.

This is good news for those that want to test out the new 1.2 upcoming patch and weren't lucky enough to be core beta testers.

Keep up the good work Mythic, I'm looking forward to testing out some of these changes myself now.

If you look in your directory where you have Warhammer installed, there'll be a file called 'testpatch.exe'. Running that will patch you up and allow you to access the Public Test Server- Deathsword.

You'll have to copy your characters over (it's free) from the Mythic Account Center first, though.

This is from a November 6th, 2008 US Herald announcement:

To access the Public Test Server, locate the new patcher: testpatch.exe in your main Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning directory. This file will be automatically downloaded when the Public Test Server is opened.

Simply run the testpatch.exe file to start the patcher. Just like the live game, it will download everything automatically, just click play and you're good to go!

Creating a copy of your Live character to play on the Public Test Server is easy, too. Visit your Mythic Account Center, login, and click on the Character Transfer Button above your Game Account profiles. Then, follow the instructions to the Character Transfer Center. Once you are in the Character Transfer Center you will see three options at the bottom. Select "character copy" and then fill in the information on the next page to choose the character you wish to copy.

Once you have confirmed the copy you can view the status of the transfer as it is processed. Please note that you may be required to change the name of your character to avoid naming conflicts. If for any reason there is an error with your transfer, you can click on the "More Details" option to find out why the Character Copy was unsuccessful.

As to the Slayer and Choppa being included, as they are part of the 1.2 patch, I would say yes. From the highlights it even says:

• New Careers! Unleash the savage fury of the relentless Orc Choppa, or take up the doom-laden oath of the unstoppable Dwarf Slayer. These two new melee-focused careers relish the thrill of fighting on the front lines and laying waste to all foes that come within reach of their mighty blades.

No, I haven't received an email (yet), and I've been invited to the 1.06 testing back then, so I assume I'm a "core tester."

Same here, I was in the closed Heavy Metal test and have not received an email. Not sure how they will wrangle their forum access for this one, we were a rowdy bunch during 1.06 testing. =/
