All Hail the Generals

You may be noticing some new colored names on the forums. We're introducing extra incentive for community contributions for our "Spotlights" content items.

All members who have had items Spotlighted on Warhammer Alliance now possess the title "WAR General" and a colored "teal" username, along with a new 75 PM box limit, the ability to create Blogs via our User CP, and access to our new WAR Community Promotion Initiative forum for discussions and talks with other fansites, blogs, and admins.

WAR Generals are our way of saying "thanks" to those community members who have created interesting, informational, and meaningful content on our forums for WAR, and we will now be awarding the title with all the requisite benefits for all future Spotlights and possibly other content initiatives.

So be sure to keep on contributing productive content, because we'll be watching! Congratulations to all our new Generals, and be sure to check out their contributions in our Content Archive!

Meh, I see it's kinda like a copy of what Mythic is doing with their forums, but WHA mods aren't paid, so they can take sides and promote thier favorites.

Obviously not the way the system IS, but if it evolves, it could turn into a coattail nightmare.

It's completely different. WHA is rewarding people who contribute works to the community with a nice title and the ability to further influence the addition of content to the community.

Mythic is rewarding people who are seen as contributing feedback that they like with a nice title and giving them further ability to influence the game.

One of these worries me - one of them has the potential to be judged way too subjectively. Here's a hint - it's not the first one.

Actually, to help prevent us "picking our favorites" or playing favoritism, we have nomination threads for Spotlights. Our current Spotlight subjects are Guides, UI, Fan Art/Fic, and Screenshots. Although people have not been actively nominating in every subject, the intention is that people will nominate something in that thread and if it's a popular nomination (chosen several times), it will become Spotlighted. Is it a Science? Not really, especially for things like Fan Art where there haven't been many nominations.

We've been highlighting the community with Spotlights for a couple months now--even before the official forums were annouced. After moderating the situation, we figured people deserved a little something because really--every Spotlight chosen is great--and they deserve a little "Thank you."
