[US Herald] - PTS Update - 2/23/2009

From the From the Dev Team category we have: PTS Update - 2/23/2009
Greetings!

How do you follow up a weekend of CHOPPIN and Slaying your way across the Public Test Server? Why with an Open Realm vs. Realm playtest of course! Join the WAR Development team and your fellow realm mates in participating in a large scale Open RvR playtest, tomorrow February 24th from 8:00PM EST to 12:01 AM EST. Be amongst the first to experience the new Zone Domination system! We will be focusing on EvC in Tier 4 beginning in the devastated city of Praag. During this time period we will be shutting down scenarios in T4 to encourage people to participate in the ORvR test. Players who don't have Tier 4 characters to transfer are encouraged to try out the new Zone Domination system in Tiers 2 and 3.

Be sure to show up early to get an invite to the Dev guilds!

In preparation for the Open RvR playtest we are re-enabling character copies from live server to the Public Test Server when it comes back online. To copy your character to the Public Test Server please visit the account management page.

Also, we have a fresh round of career bug and balancing updates based on feedback we have received from the PTS. Read on for all of the changes being introduced to the 1.2 Game Update!

How long will the Zone Domination system testing last, because I wont be able to play for a few days, and would like to try it out?

And about the new changes to 1.2- Yay, a bigger nerf for WE! For Marauders-I still think that terrible Embrace should keep its 2 second cast. Anyway, why is Runic Shield under Engineer? That's an Iron Breaker skill.

wow, lots of changes. DoK covs got buffed - how did everyone else fare? atm, im just hoping that the changes cause less people to ragequit than those that are already planning to. our server needs more people!

Wow - it's the "this ability will no longer recieve benefit from stats" patch.

Nice to see they ditched the stupid WH need ballistic/strength. That's one bad design down. Now make pets scale!

WHs should be pretty happy.

And I'm glad they buffed the covs a bit to make up for resists (especially since the WPs prayer was untouched) but we'll see how much "slightly" actually translates to.

Overall looks great. I'd still love to see something done about
SH Finish 'Em Off (2s cast) vs SW Fell The Weak (Fell the weak now instant cast)

and

SH Behind Ya! (instant) vs SW Flanking Shot (1s cast that intterupts if the target turns)

All 4 of these abilities should be instant cast due to their requirements to work correctly. And it would be amazing if they were instant cast like point blank, no arrow travel time.

Slap in the face of any DD Sorc with a 100lb hammer!

Why do I play a class that depends on crits and then my skill are not allowed to crit anymore?

I wait to see some numbers of the new base damage, but i think now the class is only good for 100% AE spam in keeps - scenarios and open field you are the new "absorb nuker"

DD spec had some nice spike damage, but now its only a worthless spec with normal damage and high casttimes.

maybe someone can test a little thing for me.

in these advanced patch notes are so much abilitys changd to "not benefit from stats" does this also effect the dmg reduction by toughness (i think so)

When they talk about the WH changes, they say :

"The rate that Witch Hunters gain Willpower, Toughness and Ballistic Skill has been updated. Because of other changes noted below, Witch Hunters will no longer gain a large bonus to Ballistic Skill. Instead, they will get slightly more Toughness and Willpower, and much less Ballistic Skill than they currently receive. Because of this change, it was necessary to refund all Mastery and Renown points for Witch Hunters"

Is it a typo? Willpower??

What the... dozens of abilities that now only have their base damage, no bonuses from stats, and cannot crit? What the hell is going on?


And yet again I'd wish for them to give at least a short explanation for the change...

Basically they gain the same stat distribution as Witch Elves now, and their abilities rely more on strength now.
