just checked mine and its switched to automatic as well.
after the debacle with hirn recently and my general misgivings over the top heavy game mechanic ive cancelled it and its going to stay cancelled this time.

And yeah, my account was also turned to auto-renewal, though for me that's fine since I plan to keep on playing anyways.

There another fun fact about the billing system.
If you signed up at the 30th of January the system changed your billing date to 28th in February. Now in March the system does not change it back, leaving it the 28th. Tada, two days lost somewhere in between months. I love the guy who worked on this system. :D

Neither has mine. The subscription shows active but it's manual and the auto renewal is off, exactly as I left it when I canceled the auto renew two days ago.

Meh. I Call B.S. I canceled, and never had a problem. If you log back into the game after you have canceled, there may be something that triggers it.
I still read the boards, because I loved this game, but got bored. Hoping it turns around.... |

For those who don't believe this scam is true:
"Whatever you do, don't pay with your credit card if you're european. I was stupid enough to do it (I usually don't, but a friend wanted to play and my previous subscription had run out and all stores were closed for the night). I paid for one month only and then terminated my account. Guess what. When I was travelling with my work I received an e-mail saying they were going to reactivate my terminated account and put it on auto-subscription in 3 days. I of course didn't see the e-mail until it was one day after they had billed me since I was travelling. A warning 3 days in advance... Either way, I e-mailed them stating (with an angry tone of course) that I wanted my money back as I had put my account on hold. The reply I received claimed that an e-mail had been sent out with plenty of time to react before they billed me and that they, according to the EULA, would not give any refund (surprise, surprise?). Their e-mail also highlighted a part of the EULA (not a legally binding document per-se) where it said (or says) "your account will be reactivated one year from the date of your termination." Needless to say I went to the local bank, got papers to go to court and blocked my card from any future transactions. I also sent an e-mail asking for any of their customer support to contact me with a valid e-mail so that we could discuss the matter. Guess what, it has been 5 weeks (or more) since that e-mail and I still haven't received a reply. I had my doubts before buying WAR, a company without a real website can't be worth much, can it? There wasn't even a mention of WAR on GOAs french-only site. A few flashgames was all. When the beta crasched without a single word from GOA support (luckily the US had staff working during their launch) I started to regret buying the game. Worth to mention is GOAs incredibly weird flash-based war-site (war-europe.com) while Mythic has a more stable one. This settles it, I will certainly not buy another product affiliated with GOA, ever again." |

Simply make a complaint to your cardholder i.e visa etc if GoA take a payment without your consent. You'll almost certainly get a refund if its due to their awfully coded frontend.
