Perle's Warband rules

I had posted these on the alliance forums and thought that they deserved repeating for the general population of Order.

============================================

I don't run warbands often, but I figured I would post my rules for when I do. My goal as a WB leader is to kill Destro. I am not here to piss people off or hurt anyone's feelings, but inevitably that happens because of my "unreasonable" warband rules.

To make sure there is no ambiguity, here are my rules:

1. I will run a balanced warband if at all possible. If I lock the WB it's probably because we don't have enough of one class. People like winning, and we win more if we have healers, or enough tanks for a tank wall.

2. I want everyone in vent listening. Why? Because I hate typing. If I type that means I cannot heal. If I cannot heal that means my group dies. If my group dies that means I get a bunch of really pissed off people (whose opinions I care about) asking why I wasn't healing.

a. Subset of rule 2: If you are not in vent and someone logs into vent, I am booting someone in the WB who is not in vent. If you don't like it, join vent or don't join my warbands. It's just that simple. Download the program at ventrilo.com!

3. I'm not breaking my guild group up so another group can have a healer. We run a certain makeup on purpose: because we win. We win more if my group's healers aren't split up across the entire warband because nobody wanted to roll a healer.

a. Subset of rule 3: If a guildie logs in and the warband is full, I will either boot someone not in vent, or I will pass lead to someone else and form a new warband.

4. I want to kill Destro. If that means moving zones to where the Destro are that's what I do. I don't want to RVE a battlefield objective or a keep. That also means charging when they have equal numbers or low health.

Lastly, we all know warbands can be buggy. For anyone who has not led a warband, if the WB leader goes LD and comes back and lead is passed back to her, the WB leader cannot do certain things because they are also not the group leader. It sucks, like most of the other bugs in this game. If I form a new WB it's also because the current WB is buggy and I want to have control of the WB (like making loot need on use, kicking people and assigning main assist).

If you disagree with my rules, try leading a warband on your own. It is difficult to make decisions on where to go to make sure people have the most fun in this game. Again I want to reiterate that I like the people in this alliance and we work well together, but these rules make my life so much easier and reduce the stress involved with leading.

Type between heals.

That's like a whole 3 seconds.

Edit: Err... rather ... I guess the word is "during" since ... yeah.

More like 8-9 seconds with all the pushback.

...and Perle's rules are dead on and a perfect example of why I refuse to lead groups unless they are small guild-only runs.

Well that is what I would like to do, however my husband games with me and he plays a Bright Wizard (Khaevil). He starts complaining when I type because it means he is not getting heals. So I guess if Destro really wanted to cause me more grief IRL kill Khaevil a bunch of times. I'm sure to get yelled at then

Well obviously by that point you would push ESC [to exit the typing prompt] and try casting something else.

I try not to lead Warbands, I try to be a follower though. If anything if someone's not on Vent (as I'm usually on Umberogen's vent), I just pass down instructions from Vent to our non-vent members).

I've lead enough warbands without vent to know typing just doesn't cut it. By the time you get the orders out everyone has run into the destro wc.

I think it's a matter of listening vs. hearing and reading vs. seeing.

For example, there was this one time recently where I did Sigmar's Crypts with a different group. They tended to skip some pulls. The tank mentioned on vent, "go right and hug the wall." I heard "go right and hug the wall" but I didn't listen to it. So after I ran out into the middle of the hallway and pulled the mobs that they had skipped -- it was then that what I heard registered, and I realized that I was supposed to have hugged the wall, and subsequently got the group wiped.

For the record though it was PvE. :P

When I die... I sigh deeply. Or laugh, depending on whether or not I was running or if I was reverse-farming Destro by feeding myself to them.

Naw, that's Syven's rule. We do that to all healers, though!

Im pretty tough on the vent thing. Most of wbs are alliance only though -_-. I invite only ppl outside the alliance that i know.

Makes things much more succesful.

Doh! The one thing I didn't figure out when I played: which squishy was your better half. Now I can rest peacefully.
