Mythic Mini-March Madness - (1) Mark Jacobs vs. (1) Paul Barnett

At last, the Final Four of the tournament is here. There's not a Cinderella in sight as our four number 1 seeds have made it all the way here. But today, one of them goes home while the other moves on to the Championship!

(1) Mark Jacobs has been, for years, one of the most recognizable faces of Mythic. As the VP/GM, he has led his development team to critical success in Dark Age of Camelot, and now, with Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Mark's outspoken passion and hands-on interaction with the community has been well-known, and love him or hate him, he is a visible force to be reckoned with in this tournament. In the last round, Mark was triumphant over James Nichols with a 63% majority.

(1) Paul Barnett has long since been the personable, boisterous, and energetic spokesperson for WAR and its best features. As Mythic's Creative Director, Paul drives vision, concepts, and ideas into concrete mechanics and whether it is through Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, or Youtube, the face of Paul Barnett is well-known among WAR fans. Paul's numerous quotables have been among some of the most prolific of WAR's development. Here's one of Paul's interviews for the "Age of Blogging" effort.

Paul won handily over Adam Gershowitz with a 66% majority.

I have to give it to MBJ. The guy is managing the company well for the most successful launch Mythic has had. (300k subs for WAR vs. DAoC at peak) Overall the game isn't bad off. It's patching quick, bugs are found quick, New expansion incoming and all that jazz.

Paul's my facebook friend, an eternal cheerleader for the game, and irreplaceable hype man. He's kept hope in the game when all the naysayers trash it. Its a hard call to go MBJ over Paul, but its only by a slight margin. I love both of these guys.

Paul B. is like the white flavor flav of this game IMO. Mark J. hands down.

Have to go with MBJ. Had this poll been posted before the release of the game, I'd probably be voting for Paul, but MBJ seems like he's been trying so hard to keep the lines of communication open between the players and Mythic, and that really counts for a lot with me.

I have to give it to MBJ. Paul Barnett was the guy that really got my attention to this game (the interview with "and I heal, and I heal", and the one that started the soccer hooligan and english posh people on drugs comparision really got my attention to the game), but even since MBJs talk about crafting (not that the subject wa important to me) it has been clear to me that he's a real asset to Mythic.
He's amazing at talking to the community, and he has yet to disappoint me in any way.

Sadly, it looks like Paul is taking this one... So gratz. He's a also an important factor in this games succes, and especially his work pre launch was amazing. I some times find myself looking up old youtube vids with Paul, just for fun. "You kill a bear, and you kill a bear" makes me laugh every time.
