Podcast Pre-Show Thread: Episode 10

On the next episode of the "Warhammer Alliance Podcast"...

Things look dire for our heroes as they struggle against mounting forces of instability and lag. But out of the waning light of the sun comes a new face, the Mythic Andy Belford, he who has been whispered in legends and stories as a wielder of Community. A journey with Andy results in many questions answered and stories spoken regarding this weapon of Community, filling all with new courage. Armed with legendary allies and tales of yore, our adventurers head off to far off lands, where Guild Zone Capture is the only means of survival, and the only way out is through the deadly Serpent's Passage.

---

Wot's this all about, anyway?

In an attempt to build interest and also to solicit more feedback and ideas from the community, we will be trying out the creation of Podcast Pre-Show Threads prior to our recordings (Sunday every 2 weeks is our recording time). Not only will we "tease" you about our upcoming content through bolded key words, we'll also give you, the listeners and readers, a chance to tell us what we should talk about, whether that is in the form of a question for our hosts, or a point or comment you'd like to hear dissected. So please leave comments and questions, and who knows - we might give you a shout-out on our episode!

Special Note On Episode 10

If it wasn't obvious already, our 4th guest host this time around is none other than Community Coordinator Andy Belford from Mythic! One of our segments will be an interview segment, and we want questions from you, the community. Submit your best questions for Andy in this thread and who knows - we might use them in our podcast!

We'd like to thank Andy for agreeing to appear on the Warhammer Alliance Podcast!

What is the most effective way for a player to get a concern addressed by Mythic to insure that the concern has been heard?

Question(s) for Andy:

What is your impression of the current state of the WAR blogging community? Is Mythic still paying attention to WAR blogs and is the staff aware of the diminishing number of them? Do you see the shrinking blog community as a bad omen for the game, or do you think the game will flourish in spite of the community's growing disinterest?

I dont know for USA,but in Europe the worst nightmare for the players is the tremendus lag and the crashes during mass RvR.Especialy on Fortresses and City Sieges.

The game is realy unplayable even for people whith NASA computers.

You promised us many times and akk those are recorded by the interviews and your statements that you will fix the problem.

However after 8 months of gaming, the problem still exists.

Are you going to give us ever a honest answer about that huge problem and not a classic answer like WE ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM and WE ARE WORKING ON THAT ISSUE.

The game loses players daily because of that,at least in Europe.

What are you planning to do?

Is it a problem of GOA´s servers?
Is it a problem of your graphics engine?
Is it a problem of the games code?

Please,we need a honest answer so we can ubderstubd what to expect in the future.

Thank you

Napallm

Are there any plans to review the contribution system ? since day one people are telling you that it is not working. Imho it is not possible to write a script that truely and fairly accesses all the effort you put into a a PQ (of any kind) and give you a real rating of your contribution.

Are you to finally going to delete the contribution system ? *fingers crossed*

Are there any real plans of dealing with the problems players have with looting PQ chests (i.e. enemy players camping at the chest, chests are not lootable or disappearing chests)? There are like a million reports out there about that problem. There are also some smart suggestions out there how to fix the problem.

At lot of players are very upset because they lost valuable end game gear due to this very problem.

Thank you,
Xobol

Lag is gonna be pretty much a given, so I have these questions:

1.) AoE skills (both damaging and healing) currently scale with the same coefficient that single target spells do. Is this a design choice or just a "slip up" ?

If it's a design choice, is there something being done to make single target skills more desirable?

2.) Could you explain how detection for stealth (Incognito/Shadow Prowler) works? A formula or some numbers would be awesome.

Edit as an afterthought: Stealth is said to check for Initiative, which makes the concerns for its viability even more stringent when/if the secondary stats will come in, seeing as Initiative will have a great role in reducing critical damage.

Andy,

In the last couple weeks, the tank community has gathered particular support for rebuilding the career focus on the defensive tank. Sword-and-boarders and Greatweapon tanks alike seem to be agreeing that the concept of tanks as defensive group support has been watered down somewhere between the journey from beta to retail, and has been reduced into a kind of heavily armored, less effective MDPS career. Is Mr. Gershowitz and the Combat & Careers team aware of the issue, and more importantly, can we expect a dialogue about this topic at some point in the near future?

This. AoE in every form is just way too powerful right now, and there's almost no reason to direct heal anymore. Is this going to get any attention?

Bonus question: What's going on with the Secondary Stat Enhancements? I long for them.

1. any plans to buff blackguards? why don't they have oath friend?

2. why do kotbs get 10 sec aoe non-immunity respecting unbreakable root (No Escape) while destro gets no such version?

3. why do bright wizards get EVERYTHING

I used to play order, I have a 40/35 knight and 40/59 WH. I rerolled and now have a 40/49 DOK. There's really no competition between the mirrors; order has it better in every respect except maybe zealot vs. runepriest. edit:

4. any plans to change healer morale4, Alter Fate? its horribly bugged and unusable in many encounters
4a. why is the WP morale4 such garbage? 1440 health over 9 seconds vs. m3 4500 absorb...

5. token/repair system for dungeon loot please

1. What do you think of the "different" dwarf mounts available as a guild levels up? Can you see how some players might view them as "totally lame and not at all distinctive"?

2. Do you think it's a good idea to release such great recruitment rewards before giving your current playerbase incentive to keep playing?

3. Is the chicken mechanic ever going to go away so players on open RvR servers can get some of those missed unlocks without begging someone to do it for them?

4. Do you consider White Lions, Squig Herders, Engineers or Maguses (Magi?) to be true pet classes?
If so have you ever played City of Villains, Everquest 1/2, or even Age of Conan, because those games have REAL pet classes, in particular the Mastermind class from CoV is the epitomy of what a pet class should be.

My only experience with pet classes is Beastmaster from FFXI, and that was by far, the best example of a pet class I've seen in a game.

I have several questions:

1. Is random Stealth breaks due to Friendly AoE, a bug, or some other factor we do not know?

2. Will there be a buff to single-target skills/spells to make them more viable than the massive AoE running rampant through the game?

3. Are there any plans to lower the amount of AoE CC in the game?

4. I also am curious as to why Mythic feels it is necessary for their current playerbase to go out recruiting new people to the game when this game does not seem worthwhile enough to recruit for?

Question

This isn't a direct question to mythic...but more of one of pure thought. What I would like to see discussed if possible is how players as yourselves see all tanks in rvr. Has there been a moment, non rve related, that you just thought "i'm glad there are tanks nearby". This can easily be said of dps or healers, especially healers, but considering Tanks are also a support class i never really felt they have been supporting as well as they could be.

p.s. Yes, s/b tanks.
