Restricted 9 Day Open Beta?

So it seems that now half of the goodies exclusive to the CE are now going to regular pre-orders, but at least the graphic novel and artwork book are worth our $30.

I'm pissed however about the open beta. Although restriction is a bummer, it's not a turn off for me, but I am however disappointed by the apparent length. It is quite possible that Gamestop is completely wrong, but I really have to wonder why they'd be consistently pulling out detailed release times and not just pulling the "September 08". Anyway, if this is true so much for the guaranteed 1 month or more of open beta that the Devs kept telling us about.

So, I'm kinda pissed that Open Beta is only a week and a half long. It was the primary reason I pissed out 80 bucks on the CE and now it's not even an exclusive benefit.

Oh well, I guess I can paint my miniature and wonder what the card deck would be like.

9 days seems a bit shorter than a month for open beta testing.

Could gamestop have the date wrong?

I think that the OB there is the length for non-CE preorders.

I mean really, we spent roughly 90ish USD on a product almost solely for OB (some for a few other goodies), and only getting 1 week? I doubt that highly.

I hope you're right about it too! That'd be pretty neat if CE owners got in say 3 weeks earlier, but regular pre-orders have atleast 9 days guaranteed but they can try to get in whenever.

But it seems like they're getting the full head start, because I don't think head start should be much longer than 3 days, otherwise it'd get nuts.

The only point of Open Beta is to see how the servers hold up under higher load. It's run for 1 week to test the load for each day (some days more players log in than others).

well, with this info out of the bag, I'd expect some confirmation on the OB dates for CE and non-CE to be forthcoming at some point soon.

Tis quite funny, but i believe that its a complete misunderstanding, due to all of the benefits towards preordering the game (stuff that actually effects the game/gameplay anyway) are shown as being included with the standard preorder which means that in my case I would have paid double the amount for an art book and graphic novel.. (granted the art book is probably the biggest draw for me to buying the Ce but i hardly believe that it's worth £30 even with the inclusion of the book..)

If you purchased the CE for the sole point of being in the Open Beta, I pity you. The fact the CE edition comes with Open Beta access is a very, very minor thing. The hard costs you paid for include the miniature, the comic and especially the art book. There are no hard costs for inclusion in the Open Beta, and I would see little reason as a developer to extend it any longer than necessary.

Honestly, with the content restriction I don't think this is a typo. Basically, it's there to generate media coverage of the game and word of mouth. If it was a month long "demo" of only a third of the game, people would get bored and start nitpicking problems.

That being said, I'm a little put out because I don't necessarily think that the miniature and art book were worth $30 and the effort of being first in line for a CE. I know we get the in-game quests/items, but let's not pretend that those are going to offer any real benefit to players in the long run.

I will say GOOD FIND! This is going to be a make or break newletter + week for warhammer fans.
