Personally I don't like how he adresses the community. Sure it's good for the hard nucleus of WAR fanatics, because he is rude and arrogant with the critics. But on a larger comunity, I'm not sure he will be so welcome.

It is also worth noticing he has lead to some confusions, being too vague or inconsistent ("within a week / in a few weeks") and also by using technical words that have been hardly understood, like the polish and time iteration (or something like that). Nobody understood the iteration thing so the concept that remained was the "polish". Then we got the major cut, with that polishing.

To be constructive, I'd recommend using someone with better communicative skills, in the sense of being more kind, more patient and more concrete and solid.

I think people will always want to hear these kind of crucial factlike things from the Big Boss himself, instead of a PR guy hired for buttering the press up and being politically correct. Then again, I belong in the WAR fanatic group you mentioned in your post, so I don't really have an objective view :P

A quick update:

1) NDA lift is indeed coming very soon but not this week. We've still got a few things to knock off the "Must do before lift" list before I lift the NDA. But it is going to be sooner, rather than later. Still plenty of time to go before launch.

2) Lots of news coming this week (hopefully). It should be tomorrow but when you are part of a big corporation and have lots of partners, sometimes things can take a little longer than you would like. I have no doubt though that the news will be worth the wait.

So, I think the rest of the week is going to be a very good and very interesting one for WAR fans.

Thanks Mark. I know it must be very hectic, I'm glad to hear the NDA drop will be soon although I was hoping it would be this week. I'm anxious to hear the medias thoughts on various podcasts I listen to. They seem to be excited but unable to talk about it.

Well if we take Mythic for their word, I believe this would mean that the September 16 release date on all those sites is wrong, since Mythic said in the past the NDA would be down around 8 weeks prior to release...

Every single time I see a post like this I lose a tad more hope. I am ready to just give up... No definite to anything... We don't even have a monthly cost announced yet! I mean come on! As soon as the game released (In 2010 at this rate) I will be satisfied but until then bad news after the next isn't solving anything.

Well, if I promise a date with 100% certainty and then something unexpected comes up then the boards will be filled with "OMG Jacobs is such a liar he promised us this date!" or "Mythic sucks" posts. If I wait till absolutely the last minute and don't say anything then it's "OMG Jacobs is such a liar, where's our news?" or "Mythic sucks" posts. So, it's pretty much a no-win scenario unless everything goes 100% correctly all the time (which it doesn't in the real world for any company). So I prefer to let you guys what is going on and then get yelled at anyway.

And, no matter what, even when I say something 100% definitely, it will still get occasionally twisted or ignored by certain posters. A perfect example here is when I said that I was going to have some good news for our CE pre-order customers in a few weeks (my exact words) and then days later, there were a lot of posts here saying that I hadn't followed through on my promise about the good news, that I was fibbing, etc.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

I agree, they apparently have to be so elaborate to convey their message to many of the subscribers because they are hyped up on Red Bull bouncing around like a bunch of monkies that go into a fit when they misread ot misinterrupt something.
