Ask your Runepriest NDA Questions here

THERE IS ALSO A VERY NICE GUIDE OVER ON STRATICS ABOUT THE RUNEPRIEST!
User Drav3n was kind enough to put it up so I am linking it here:

Clangeddin asked :
Can you heal me please?
Yes, yes we can. And we will.

Quote:
Do Runepriests have resurrection spells during combat?
Yes. Actually, every single resurrection spell in the game can be cast while in combat. Each healer also has access to a rank 4 morale ability ( 100% of your morale ) that will resurrect all of your group mates that are dead and within range. You can also equip a tactic that makes resurrecting spells instant, but you get stunned for two seconds or three seconds after the spell.

Quote:
Do Runepriests have instant cast healing spells?
Yes, we do have an instant cast heal but it does very little healing. What it is great for though, because it has low AP cost as well, is keeping people topped off at the beginning of a fight or if you are low on health and running since you can heal over time and cast the instant heal on the run.

Quote:
What's the survivability/armor of the avarage runepriest?
Their survivability is weak at first. But, all Dwarfs have access to a tactic that increases our armor pretty high. We also have spells later on that for 60 seconds can increase our wounds by 100 which results in 1000 hp, and it goes on a 3 minute cooldown. On top of this at end game we have a spell that increases our toughness by 80 ( all incoming damage is reduced through toughness ) and if you die within the first 10 minutes of the buff, you can res yourself. My favorite Dwarf tactic though is one you gain at level 15. With each tic of your HoT, there is a 25% chance that you increase your targets armor by X amount for 10 seconds. This procs early and often and at end game levels results in an armor increase of around 1556, which is huge. We really excel in the end game areas.

ALSO: Thanks to Lokro : We can detaunt in pvp and if you don't attack who ever you detaunt it reduces their attack power by 50% for 15 seconds. Really gives melee a fit when you use it one them.

As an Ironbreaker, will I have to babysit a runepriest the whole time in pvp?
I think the healers end up doing a lot of the babysitting ^^. We work well together. You help me, I help you.

sephentos asked:
is it possible to hide the hat or not
It will be possible to hide your hat and your cape but while the options are in game, it doesn't do anything just yet when you click to hide them. I expect this to be in at launch or soon after.

Quote:
I would like to know how effective is the Aoe damage/healing mastery as this is the one i am loooking forward to playing.
The healing masteries are amazing. The damage masteries are actually pretty lacking. We have three spells that I would consider "go-to" type of spells for damage. Two of them are from masteries. I can not think of the name for one of them but what it does is damage over time, but all of the damage done is returned to your defensive target as health. EDIT: THE NAME OF THE DOT AND HOT IN ONE SPELL IS RUNE OF FATE. The major damage spell is Rune of Burning which is a 6 second channeled spell that can be set back when hit, but if untouched you hit like you are a ranged dps career. The last good damage spell currently is your damage over time, I think Rune of Immolation, which you can get at level 2. Those three are the go to damage spells. You need 6 mastery points in the Path of Grimnir to get the AoE healing master rune which I love, and the rest of my points go into Path of Valaya since that is where the two major damage spells are.

Quote:
How is the damage ratio of the runepriest , i would like to be able to damage aswell heal and buff maybe a few dots and ccs in there i played a moonkin in world of warcraft and would damage and heal in battlegrounds etc.. Is this possible in warhammer with the runepriest or not?
I think we do decent damage early on, then it evens out and we are a step below the dps careers, but then at end game when you have the three abilities I listed, especially Rune of Burning, you can do a ton of damage.

Bundles asked:
Is there a certain path that makes the RP more difficult to be killed in PvP? You know, like the annoying guy who just won't friggen die?
To be honest, you need to mix and match which trees you go in to get that effect. Each of the trees have a spell or tactic that REALLY helps the survivability. I think this is one of the great aspects of the RP is that our mastery paths are all really flexible. I think regardless though, we are that annoying career that is hard to kill.

What are your thoughts on the risk-to-reward ratio of playing a Rune Priest? What I mean is: Is the class challenging to play and are you rewarded accordingly for excelling at it? (the more difficult a class is the more fun I find it =)
I think for all the healing careers, the ones that are played horribly stand out like a sore thumb. The ones that are played well stand out as well. I will go further into detail later in this thread on a question or two below.

Quote:
Does the Rune Priest have some kind of DPS to Heal better mechanic similar to the Shaman's Gork and Mork?
Nay, we have no mechanic, which makes us flexible in what we can do. We don't need to try to build up any mechanic or meter, we can just hop right in it.

Quote:
How useful is the Rune Priest in longer fights? Does his utility scale the longer a fight lasts like the Melee and Caster Priests' healing mechanics seem to allow them? (I asked this question to a beta tester in the general forum, but would like to get the opinion of an experienced RP)
We were intended to be the best burst healers in the game and while I do agree that we are, when played correctly I feel where scale the best in longer fights. We have so many spells at our disposal. We have a heal over time, an instant cast heal, an instant cast shield, a master rune that heals AOE style that sits on the ground for 60 seconds and we can cast another right after, we have a spell we cast on you and it heals a little up front, and then more over time, then we have a heal over time that also pulses to friendly nearby targets, we have a damage over time that allows us to heal for the damage done, we have an aoe heal, and we have a three second cast large heal. This also doesn't take into account that our heal over time when having a tactic on, can make your targets armor increase by a over 1500 at 40 which gives you like 25% more mitigation. It is hard to take somebody down when you take all that into effect, expecially with a handful of RP around or two in a group. Healing is fun because of the various routes we can take to get the job done.

Quote:
How does the Rune Priest compare to its' mirror, the Zealot?
I feel we are superior to the Zealot and I wanted to play Destruction. I just fell in love with the Runepriest after about 6 months of beta. I played Destruction exclusively for the first 6 months of beta and couldn't decide on a career. Once I tried the RP I just loved it. I like our healing better, I like our damage better. I dislike their harbingers a lot. The master runes work nicer.

Do you feel like a desired member of a group compared to other support careers, particularily when your group happens to be min/maxing? Do min/maxing groups (note: not a forced choice on anyone here, it'd be a group decision) encourage respeccing based on the encounter they are attempting?
I have never once been asked to respec. I think we are the desired healer for Order since we require no mechanic to excel. I think the WP and AM is a toss up but I think our utility makes us outright superior. I don't think the other two get an instant cast heal, and I know for a fact neither of the other two healers have the tactic that makes the HoT give armor buffs to your target which makes tanking a hell of a lot easier.

Quote:
Also, how challenging is healing when you have all of your abilities and mastery points spent? Compared to say a Warrior Priest and how they heal. Is it easier to make a good impression on a random player (during PQs, PUG scenario, PUG dungeon run, etc.) as one or the other?
The challenge to healing at end game is just getting down a PVE routine for each encounter. I still have time to keep everyone up and sneak in damage spells as well. The hardest part of healing in RvR is forgetting what you know in PVE. Heal over time a lot, shield a lot, and if close to your enemy, abandon your three second heal. If the enemy knows what they are doing and they have propor assist macros set up, the three second heal is certain death.

Quote:
Which mastery lines have been most popular with high level RPs? Are there any that are underrepresented?
Path of Valaya has been the most popular mastery tree, but I don't feel one path is really unpopular. Of the three master runes I feel the first path, Grungi I believe, is lacking. It decreases the attack build up times by like .25 seconds so a three second cast becomes a 2.75 second cast. Compared to the other two master runes it seems almost not worth it. One rune does AOE healing which I love, and the other rune gives you a 20% chance to regain like 50 AP with each attack you do. Both of those are awesome.

Quote:
And to go with that: Are RPs a well-represented career throughout the game?
I think Dwarfs as a whole are underpopulated when looking at the other races but we are well respected in game and if you roll one in game and take it to high levels you will be highly sought after. This is the career I play for the next couple of years easy.

I want to know how effective HOT spells are in pvp. Are they powerful enough to keep someone up long enough for a bigger heal. Does specing in HOT path viable or is it better as a sub.
I personally feel that the heal over time spells are the bread and butter of ours in RvR healing. Maybe one by itself isn't special ( except when you have that magical tactic I keep talking about ) but when you stack them together quickly it makes for quite the force on the battlefield.

Each player is going to excel as the Runepriest in different situations because we all enjoy playing different ways than one another. All I can suggest is testing various specs in various situations and then choose your paths and spell order based on how you enjoy playing.

Can you heal me plz?

Edit: serious questions to not hijack the thread.
Do Runepriests have resurrection spells during combat?
Do Runepriests have instant cast healing spells?
What's the survivability/armor of the avarage runepriest?
As an Ironbreaker, will I have to babysit a runepriest the whole time in pvp?

Third question: How is the damage ratio of the runepriest , i would like to be able to damage aswell heal and buff maybe a few dots and ccs in there i played a moonkin in world of warcraft and would damage and heal in battlegrounds etc.. Is this possible in warhammer with the runepriest or not?

Question

hi.

how would you characterize a runepriest's survivability in RvR? from what i've been reading, they are supposed to be tougher than what we've come to expect from your standard healing class.

what did you find yourself using most, DH, HOTS or AOE?

what was the coolest aspect of the class?

what was the most challenging?

thanks for your time!!

(Great thread, I can't wait to hear the answers as well as lots more info on high level runepriests.. My husband is going destruction, and I promised I'd go where he chose, but I'll definitely be rolling a runepriest, even if it's on my own, just because I LOVE what I've read about the class so far... I have no questions that haven't already been asked, but I just wanted to say thanks )

I've played a RP a bit, but I'm not able to experience it all myself at this point, so...

What have your end-game PvE experiences been like as a Runepriest. Are there certain roles that you perform better or worse than others (single target healing, AOE dps, etc.)?
