Open beta and 64-bit windows vista.

Does anyone know how to run the installer on a 64-bit version of windows vista or where to get an alternate download if possible? I downloaded it Monday and I haven't gotten any responses from EA or Mythic as to how to install this on my OS or where to get another down load. I was wondering if anyone could help me out here.

It just says "This version of the file is not compatible with your version of Windows you're running. Check the computer's system information blah blah blah to find out whether you're running 32-bit or 64-bit and contact the software publisher."

Try running it with administrator privileges, thats usually the "problem" when dealing with Vista. I'm running Vista x64 and everything is working! Havent even had a CTD ingame.

It worked fine to me in win XP 64 bits. I know its not vista but it seems to be no difference in 32-64 bits OS.

Lol when I try to run it as administrator it says "cannot locate setup.exe".

Odd... It never said anything like that to me... Perhaps someone else has encountered it and will post?

Run it logged in as admin, not using the "run as" function.

Disable UAC.

Try compatibility mode for XP service pack 2.

Recompile the OS, that should fix it.

Oh wait.

Anyway, I've been running in both XP64 and V64 with no issues like that (as others have said too). Vista is a nasty little ... thing ... when it comes to permissions, etc. Use the suggestions above (not mine) and you should be fine.

Did you make sure to "Unlock" the file if you got it through Fileplanet. Fileplanet automatically encrypts their files when they're downloaded, causing the OS to give you that message(regardless of whether it has anything to do with being 16bit or whatever, it gives that same message if the Fileplanet file is still encrypted.)

I don't know how to unlock it or how to log in as an administrator.

The Fileplanet Download Manager when it finishes downloading has an "Unlock" button right next to the file.

Oh, I didn't see the option to unlock it when I first downloaded it, I had cleared it from the download manager shortly after it finished. I am the administrator of my computer as well...so unless there's any other options I may just have to download the beta again and try unlocking it.

My Vista 64 install went smooth as silk as well.
