Mods already going too far

http://war.curse.com/downloads/details/13544/

Gork Sez Stop
Honestly, this is the kind of stuff mods should not be able to do. It's an easymode advantage over someone who doesn't use mods.

As far as SCT and other mods, those are perfectly fine, but things like this have got to go.

Eventually, it will be just like it is in WoW. Mods will come and go, some will be frivolous and some will be "required".

Mods like this will be rarer. From what peole that mod are saying very little of what the enemy does wil come through. And they may make this moot in the next push. I am sure devs read curse and places like that to see if any mod does what they do not want mods to do. A couple like this will not break the game.

Lol, this wouldn't make or break my decision to be a shaman. I simply tried both and liked black orc more.

Sigh...
The Gork Sez Stop mod is not going too far. It exists for only two reasons:

1: Buff and Debuff icons in this game are small and difficult to read, and not separated.

2: Gork Sez Stop is a very powerful spell, because if you DON'T notice it on you, it WILL kill you. It was never intended to be a super-powerful damage ability, it was intended to stop people moving. The damage was the incentive, but unfortunately, debuffs being difficult to see in this game, it became a damage buff.

I agree that there are many mods that should not exist in a game, and that WoW had some problems with mods, however it's quite clear from your post that you don't think mods should exist at all, and if that's your opinion, I'm not going to try and change it.

How is this an easymode advantage? It affects ONE ability. ONE. And it doesn't even make the ability useless...

Darugen hit the nail on the head. The un-usability of the default UI is what is causing people to create these kinds of mods. And Gork Sez Stop is arguably one of the most overpowered spells in the game right now....yet you favor removing a few players' ability to be alerted to the debuff, rather than toning down this spell itself. Interesting.

I really don't get what all the fuzz is about...
I'm no expert but I'm guessing that Gork Sez Stop is that green beam that shamans use.

So the addon displays a message, flashes your screen and plays a tune for you. But hey there's also a green beam on you. Which should warn you equally as much, but ok some people are just blind.

What I'm trying to say is that addons like that doesn't play the game for you, they mearly try to tell you what to do or not to, that's hardly playing the game for you since you have to interact yourself.

Addons, macros arn't the devil! They're useful tools to custumize your keybinds so it doesn't feel like playing guitar hero (for the slow that means, having to practice all day just to hit the correct keys).
That being said addons that actually do play the game for you are the devil, like decursive for WoW. It selects the nearest target with a debuff you can remove with a single keypress. Well sure the addon was nice and the buildin decurse mechaninchs were just rubish and encounters sort of required people to have this addon.. but enough of WoW. None of that in WAR and all shall be well.

Besides macros are a heck of a lot of fun to write. Atleast I found trying to place as many different spells into one button was fun. Again not depending what was attacking me or something like that, but static sort of stuff like was I moving, in water, flying, running, tilting my head, scratching my it would use a different spell. Not much different from using keybindings only I didn't have to use 11 fingers and 1 toe.

Addons change or add what people feel is lacking or not adjusted correctly for them. Addon Sez Stop is just one of those addons making up for a weakness in the game.

I don't see the problem. Won't it tell you to stop, or that you have a debuff, somewhere in the default UI?

No its not the green beam. Its a R28 Morale ability.. so odds are you havent seen it cast on you unless your an elder tester.

Those who don't know, it's a pretty hefty shaman ability:

(bold part was a spelling correction)

Not an MMO example but that logic kinda like saying in an multiplayer FPS it's ok to have something that shows you were all your opponents are since it only helps you decide what to do. Not trying to be insulting but there's a point where making that decision is in a way playing for you.

In the PW I noticed everytime something popped up on me and got to know some of the symbols they all seemed different from the others. Once people know it can happen they will be better prepared and that's more what needs to happen. When you know it's possible and at what level you will watch for it otherwise you just die. I am ok with some mods but others just make it so you don't have to watch yourself or others as well.

I think that's the point of the whole spell and this mod completely ruins it.
